Walking
through Waikiki's
early morning foliage,
I became aware
that I wasn't alone -
a pair of wild ducks!
We checked each other out -
Even made eye contact -
They resumed their routine
Busy Digging Duck
Give me a gauzy, feminine effect
I'm BOLD!
But thoughtful and reflective too
She seems to be wishing us a sweet day!
For ALL of us
Ducky dear!
Animals
teach us
that there are many
different ways
to live and
to love.

ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet, wishes from a cute duck.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Loverly duckies! Look like the Hawaiian state bird, the protected nene, but I hadn't seen a blue patch on them. A diffo duck? Maybe they're lookin' for their own TV show. Glad they're happy on Waikiki.

ReplyDeleteWhenever the Muscovy ducks down by Lake Siri see me, they come running (in a waddling fashion) for their bread pieces.

ReplyDeleteA Merry X'mas to you, Claudia!
These are not Nene Geese, but working class ducks that seem to be coming back to Waikiki. I've seen them about in recent years - but don't remember them before.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day, Waikiki was a marshy place of beach homes, rice paddies, duck farms, and marshes.
Thanks Dears!!!
