As for old age,
embrace and love it.
It abounds with pleasure
if you know how to use it.
The gradually declining years
are among the sweetest
in a man's life, and I
maintain that, even when
they have reached the
extreme limit, they have
their pleasure still.

I sense a gaze
behind my back—
Is it a friend,
Is it a friend,
or maybe a cat?
You’re like pizza—
even when I’m
not hungry, I still
want a slice!

There once was a chef,
they called Stumpy,
A pig with a hat,
A pig with a hat,
never grumpy.
His trotters so small,
Could whisk sauces for all,
And his dishes were
His trotters so small,
Could whisk sauces for all,
And his dishes were
never clump lumpy!
There is a quiet richness in the later years, where reflection deepens joy and presence becomes its own reward

DeleteI am much kinder to others than to myself. A work in progress.,

DeleteOh my! Pixie wants to slice and dice that poor bird to make cardinal hash for dinner. You can keep the cat away from predators, but you can't take the predator out of the cat! Lovely post today. I love that ditty about the porky pig restaurant.

...thanks for sharing a little slice of heaven.
ReplyDeleteCool limerick about Stumpy.
ReplyDeleteLove the first from Seneca, and the way you placed the photo of Pixie looking up at the beautiful photo of the bird, with caption to tie them together. Stumpy seemed a bit garish, holding up ham while having a wooden leg. But that's carnivores for you!
ReplyDeleteHello Cloudia,
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty sky photo.
Pixie and Pizza are the best.
Take care, have a great day!
Pleasures continue into old age.
ReplyDeleteAging is so difficult for many. My parents never quite came to terms with it. It's tough. Wise words, my friend.
ReplyDeletePixie is curious about that bird.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteI love how it looks like Pixie is eyeballing that bird!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful juxtaposition!
Lovely bird! Cute Pixie!
ReplyDeleteKeep looking up, Pixie! Blessings, Cloudia!
ReplyDeletePixie has an idea. A nice slice of wisdom today, Cloudia. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNow I want pizza and to love on Pixie.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to Pixie. ♥
Loved the sense of peace in the 2nd photo!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to visit Stumpy Pete's!
ReplyDeleteCute "Stumpy" sign. Enjoy the rest of the week Cloudia
ReplyDeleteOf course I love your quotations and poems, especially that one about old age (you can guess why!) And Pixie is a beautiful cat, but please don't really let her eat that beautiful bird -- just let her dream of her ancestors when there were so many more birds and that natural cat behavior was OK. Sadly, nowadays not.
