Saw one of those in Orlando a couple of years ago, it was around 101 degrees that day with 95% humidity. The security guard inside the tower had one window open because he said the air conditioning was stuck in high and he was freezing.

That last photo, sunshine, shadows, and stunning rainbow, what could be more perfect! It is exciting though somewhat upsetting in areas when these kinds of things come to town...around here people complain so much about the traffic when anyone arrives here, (they are more concerned about their day) when maybe we should stop our normal day and welcome our visitors, or rather guests!

EEGADS! Looks like transformers sittin' in the street; like I shouldn't DARE leave my hotel's lobby. Interesting little boxes hovering over your boat. Hope you aren't frisked every block you walk. Security guards in site are a bit unnerving. Glad there's not barbed wire and a fortress lining the beach. Stay safe; mind your manners until the security visitors leave. DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteI guess high visibility security is a must, especially when you have a gathering of other international big honcho businessmen and/or heads of state. I only wish that those observation "booths", or whatever their names are, looked a tad less "industrial" in design, and could have at least have beem painted a more aesthetically pleasing color, more appropriate with the culture of the surrounding area, (not as camouflage, because that would defeat the purpose of hi-visibility security, but rather as an opportunity to showcase American design related artistic talent and creativity in front of those international eyes.)

This post had me thinking of Gettysburg in your home state and how Lincoln once walked freely around that town. I thought of President Obama admiring the beach of his childhood from a safe distance. It's sad to me that we don't celebrate or leaders, who represent the best in ourselves, but lock them up. We would love them well if we could only love ourselves. Challenging post. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAs you say “visitors don’t stay forever” – now I wish I was a visitor again in your beautiful state. For some reason before I went to Hawaii I did not think I would like it. Maybe because when I was in Bali there were two women from Hawaii and they were constantly complaining about Bali and saying that Hawaii was better. But then I went to Hawaii and loved it. I hope I can go back some day.

These are the people who have totally screwed up everything they and their predecessors touched. I can understand why they don't have any public forums~~~they may have to explain themselves and their way of prostitution to greed.

Hi Again, I'm commenting on the wrong post, I was trying to find the one within the last week where you quoted Ben Franklin and I commented that he could hold his own in the present time. Didn't I end up looking at a lovely bust of Franklin every meal that I sat down to during this last weekend's retreat in the host's dining room. He appeared to enjoy our company.
