Crystal Through Which You Gaze

A  L  O  H  A !
Rasta Man Welcomes Us to the Smoke Shop

There is neither truth nor lie;
everything is like the color of
the crystal through which you gaze.
             Mexican Proverb

Urban Glory
We do not have to become heroes overnight.
Just a step at a time, meeting each thing
that comes up ... discovering we
have the strength to stare it down.
            Eleanor Roosevelt

Look To The Everyday Heroes!

Not the glittering weapon
fights the fight, but
rather the hero's heart.
            Traditional Proverb

I think a hero is any person really
intent on making this a
better place for all people.
           Maya Angelou

And you can
start today,
right now,
where you are!

Love Donors

A  L  O  H  A !
Don't be a beggar of love,
Be a donor of love.

What is moral is
what you feel good after,
and what is immoral is
what you feel bad after.

I have never been hurt by
anything I didn't say.
              Calvin Coolidge

Choose Inner Dialogue

A  L   O  H  A !
I fell in love with taking pictures,
with wandering around finding things.
To me, it feels like a kind of performance.
The picture is a document
of that performance.
                   Alec Soth

When you think of Rihanna's voice,
you think of this whole, rich thing,
solid like a tree trunk.
             Chris Martin

Everything you believe
affects everything
that comes to you.
        Abraham Hicks

Psychology and other branches of science,
more and more, attest to the truth
and mechanisms of this.
As does my own experience
and understanding.

Whatever is lovely, right,
and uplifting to your mood:
think on THESE things!

Not Everyone Sees It

A  L  O  H  A !
Consider a tree for a moment.
As beautiful as trees are to look at,
we don't see what goes on underground -
as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots
in order to grow strong and produce their beauty.
But we don't see the roots.
We just see and enjoy the beauty.
In much the same way, what goes on
inside of us is like the roots of a tree.
                       Joyce Meyer

Everything has beauty,
but not everyone sees it.

That's what I was thinking,
before I took this shot

The only thing that ultimately matters
is to eat an ice-cream cone,
play a slide trombone, plant a small tree,
good God, now you're free.
                   Ray Manzarek

The sparrow that is twittering
on the edge of my balcony is
calling up to me this moment a world
of memories that reach over half my lifetime,
and a world of hope that stretches farther
than any flight of sparrows.

A  L  O  H  A !
The positive energy and
love we give to others,
heals our own wounds.
              Angie Karan

 Every adversity, every failure, every
heartache carries with it the seed of
an equal or greater benefit.
                              Napoleon Hill

In order to see birds it is necessary to
become part of the silence.
            Paul Laurence Dunbar

Awake,arise,and assert yourself,
you dreamers of the world.
Your star is now in ascendancy.
                     Napoleon Hill

Pendulums do swing.

People do awaken.

Wrong acts
and lying words
sooner or later
bring failure.

The bigger they act
the harder they fall.

Forbearing* people
will inherit the world.

The Major Problem

A  L  O  H  A !
I’m here to tell you
That you’ve got
What it takes

The Major Problem
in the world today
is contempt.
I pledge to remain
calm and loving.
Even in the face of it.

I fell in love with Honolulu
When I saw a girl with flowers in her hair
When she gave me her aloha smile
I was glad that I could stay awhile
                    Donald Neil McKay

Live today so richly that
if it is your last
you're cool with that.

With Joy

A  L  O  H  A !
Star lost
in the light of dawn,
trill of the breeze,
warmth, breath—
the night is done.
You are light and morning.
           Cesare Pavese

A single poem, alone
can turn tides
scatter galaxies
and burst forth with rivers
from paradise.
              Sanober Khan

The great sea Has sent me
adrift It moves me
As the weed in a great river
Earth and the great weather
Move me
Have carried me away
And moved my inward parts with joy.
                 Eskimo Song,  Uvavnuk

Everything Nothing

A  L  O  H  A !
My hopes are not always realized,
but I always hope.

Willpower is just another name for
the idea of choosing long-term outcomes
rather than short-term ones.”

nothing is lost.

Rest Be Kind

A  L  O  H  A !
 I love the progress
of the day.

Time flies when
we're having fun.

Rest and be kind, you don’t
have to prove anything.

Don't Become What You Hate

A  L  O  H  A !
 " 'Resist not evil,'
for all passionate conflicts
result in an interchange
 of characteristics."
Neville Goddard

"In spite of the many sins of omission
and commission against the Indians
that I had laid at the door of the Municipality,
I could not help commending it's
solicitude for the white citizens, and
I rendered as much help as I could
in it's laudable efforts."
              Gandhi ca 1900

"It is my faith, based on experience,
that if one's heart is pure,
calamity brings in it's train
men [sic] and measures to fight it."

You cannot police the behavior of others.
But you can choose your own response
if you do not immediately react.
Don't take it personally. Choose.

Buddha was walking with some
traveling companions when an
angry person began yelling and
berating him. Buddha remained
quite calm. At the end of the day,
his friends asked him about the
incident and received this question:
"If someone gives you something,
and you do not accept it,
who does it belong to?"

Don't make the problems of others
your own! Just keep walking as
you have chosen to do. Do right as
you understand it impartially.
THIS is what changes the world.

Thanks, Friend!
