Too many people
merely shop
the truths and
opinions of others,
never troubling to look
deeply enough
to form their own.
Such folks
consider conversation
a competition.
Cheering on their
ready-made
allegiances, sadly failing
to find the thrill of
discovering fuller truth
by really listening
to one another.
Collaboration is
the opposite
of capitulation.
Only the self-confident
can play in the fields
of ideas, growing
wisdom all the while.
