Spring Hopes

 A L O H A  From

H  O  N  O  L  U  L  U

Maybe the story
You whisper in the dark
Isn’t the whole story,
Though every word
Feels true.

It’s the story
You have so far
That's all,
Stitched out of memory
And longing,
From the ache
Of what was
and the hope of
What might be.

But maybe—
just maybe—
the world is wider
than fears can allow,
and the shadows about
are thinner than they seem.

Maybe hope
is hiding in the margins,
waiting for you
to turn the page.

Maybe the truth
is softer,
more forgiving,
and the ending
isn’t written yet.

Let’s keep writing
you and I
line by line,
finding the light
in the spaces between
what we know
and what could be.

like a Spring day.
