Ask Not

ALOHA,
             Welcome to Hawaii

click on  the clouds for potential revelation!

"I believe that there is a subtle magnetism
 in Nature,
which, if we unconsciously yield to it,
 will direct us aright."

Henry David Thoreau

Aloha on da beach (see it?)

"Forget not
that the earth delights to feel your bare feet
and the winds long to play with your hair."

Kahlil Gibran

"That's what (the film) Rocky is all about:
 pride, reputation,
and not being another bum in the neighborhood."

Sylvester Stallone

<<+>>

Has it really been 50 years?

Yes it has,

as of yesterday in fact.

In that time
the world has changed
from:

 "Ask not what your country
can do for you - but what you
can do for your country."

To

"Greed is good."

What happened?

Here is a picture of a far off time.

Some called it Camelot.

To many of us
it was
and remains
a magical
time:

"The world is very different now.
For man holds in his mortal hands
the power to abolish all forms of human poverty
and all forms of human life. . .

Let the word go forth from this time and place,
 to friend and foe alike,
that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans --

that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
This much we pledge -- and more.

So let us begin anew -- remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.
Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us.

I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation.

The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it. And the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do
 for the freedom of man."

Inaugural Address

With a good conscience our only sure reward,

with history the final judge of our deeds,
let us go forth to lead the land we love,
asking His blessing and His help,
but knowing that here on earth
God's work must truly be our own.

Must truly be our own
You & Me.

Throttle Therapy

Thanks for Coming-

"Sadness does not inhere in things;
it does not reach us from the world
and through mere contemplation of the world.
It is a product of our own thought.
We create it out of whole cloth."

I don't need a therapist
because I have a motor scooter.

Throttle thrills,
& motor-driven magic
soon dispel the cobwebs
of the day.

Absorbed by movement
on my motorized walk
I glide
I swoop
wheeling like a hawk.

Passing (aye!) through color
sights
& smells.

The closest thing to flying,
this effortless progress of the eye;
A twist of the wrist
and I'm
     g o n e. . .

Home to download the pictures
still running
in my mind.

VroooooM!

Above it All

Aloha Dear Guest

"The heart is the best reflective thinker."

Wendell Phillips

“"If I had a world of my own,
 everything would be nonsense.

Nothing would be what it is,
because everything would be what it isn't.
 You see?”"

 Alice "in Wonderland"

“Life is a great big canvas,
and you should throw all the paint you can on it.”

 Danny Kaye

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf warning
for north and west shores of Kauai, Oahu, Maui and Molokai
from noon Wednesday until noon Thursday.
Forecasters say wave faces will be between 25 and 35 feet on Oahu's North Shore.

With light trade winds, conditions look ideal for the most elite of surfers.

Eddie Aikau Surf Invitational organizers told surfers there is a good chance the
"Only when conditions are right" contest
will run this week at legendary Waimea Bay.
When waves are consistently 25 feet and higher,
the best in the world surf mountains of water.

The last time the contest was held was in December of 2009.

Spectators from around the world always clog traffic on Oahu's North Shore for this event.
But who could blame them?

For to witness surfing's greatest show
is something never to be
forgotten!

chatoyant

means: "changing in luster or color."

Aloha & Welcome Today!

Scientists have looked at the wings of flies and wasps
against white backgrounds for years.
Biologists at Lund University in
Sweden made a breathtaking discovery when they used black
backgrounds: COLOR!
  (from Wired Magazine HERE)

"It takes a long time
to become young."

Picasso

"Power without love
is reckless and abusive.
Love without power
is sentimental and anemic."

Martin Luther King

"We are not enemies
but friends.
We must not be enemies.
Though passion may have strained,
it must not break our bonds of affection."

Abraham Lincoln

We all long for love.

But once we can see
beyond our own seeking
we notice that others
have the same appetite.

When you willingly become
a source of love
you will never be
lonely,
infective,
hungry.

As "Kevin" a former athlete
seriously injured and impaired
in an accident told author
Tom Corwin:

"I became aware that the part of me
that I can control is spirit.
That's what drives me
and it's what makes me feel good.
I'm not saying I'm always happy,
but when I'm less happy
I've learned to witness myself.
I still suffer occasionally ,
but I've developed the tools
to come back to the beauty
and power of spirit."

When we begin to see these things
a formerly Black & White,
win / lose,
 world
shows us a beauty
that we never imagined.

That is my wish today
for you
and for me.
