Frank Lloyd Wright completed 1/3 of his life's work between the ages of 80 and 92.
At eighty
some might rest,
count the hours
in the sun,
fold the years
like paper.
But you unrolled
new plans—
lines singing
across the page,
angles reaching
for the sky.
Your hands, still
steady with wonder,
sketched houses that breathed
with light and openness,
museums that spiraled
like galaxies caught mid-turn.
One-third of
a lifetime’s vision
born in the
supposed afterglow.
You proved what time
forgets to tell us:
that age can be
an opening,
wide as a
new doorway,
and creativity a river
that refuses to dry.
Even at ninety,
you were still
building tomorrows!

Java Sparrow (Padda oryzivora),
also known as Java Rice Bird
or Java Temple Bird.
A bird came tapping on the sill,
The morning air was soft and still.
But kitty dreamed in curled-up grace,
Sunlight painting her whiskered face.
We gave the bird a sip to stay,
It sang, then quickly flew away—
And kitty, stretching, gave a sigh,
Never knowing it fluttered by!
