I gotta say
I'm loving Northern
California.

The women all look
like they are dressed up
as me for Halloween:
jeans, boots,
long hair.

I haven't raised
a sweat all day!

My thin "pineapple blood"
is getting used to
bracing temps.
But this isn't
Chicago: it is NOT
snowing. I could
drive to some snow!
But there is too
much closed at hand
to see anew.

I wanna go back in
to San Francisco
again soon.
Too many GREAT
photos waiting there!

Gotta moisturize,
that's a must,
but my hair looks
better not plastered
to my forehead in
this drier clime.

Hawaii is part of
me, especially
her people & culture.
I really grew from
punk to adult there.

But I do seem to be
in my element here.

I feel younger, too if
that makes any sense.

Perhaps it is the
stirring memories
of growing up with
four seasons
that make me feel
full of youthful
associations and
possibilities.

I do miss some
Hawaii comfort foods,
but have spotted a
Japanese restaurant
that serves donburi,
and noodle soups,
and tempura. It ain't
Zip Min, but it will
have to do.

Photos of Hawaii
sunsets tear at my
heart. But it was
time to leave.

I will be back,
Waikiki;
For a visit.
But the Bay Area
seems created just
for me and millions of
other like-minded friends
of every race, creed,
and lifestyle.

How's life
in YOUR neck
of the woods?
Are you a
Newbie or a Native?

Thank YOU!

Marin Reveals Glories

 A L  O  H  A !

“The main thing
is to be moved,
to love,
to hope, to
tremble, to
live.”

at the same time”.

Birds of Paradise, Citrus & Pinecones

A  L  O  H  A !
This seagull seems embarrassed.
I have it on good authority
that the "waste" on the dock
is left by otters!
So don't be embarrassed,
sweet gull,
we know it wasn't you!

“I don't even remember
the season. I just
remember walking
 between them and
feeling for the
 first time that I
  belonged somewhere.”
Stephen Chbosky,
The Perks of Being a Wallflower

“I have learned that
if you must leave a place
 that you have lived in
 and loved and where
all your yesteryears
are buried deep,
leave it any way except
a slow way, leave it
the fastest way you can.
Never turn back and
never believe that an hour
you remember is a better hour
because it is dead. Passed years
seem safe ones, vanquished ones,
while the future lives
 in a cloud, formidable
from a distance.”

Well,
this place is beginning to feel
like home. Pixie is here, after all.

The pelicans, geese, ducks,
and myriad other fowl
whose names are strange to me
are a chief feature of this
allure.

And driving.
Driving here is a pleasure!
I am remembering the
enjoyment of driving
an open road,
and wood smoke,
with smells of pine.

Historical accounts I
have read of this part of
Marin County
speak of the Tahitian
and Florida,
and Italian citrus
that flourishes here.

Birds of Paradise,
grow under pine trees.

A unique and beneficent
climate indeed;

Sunny today, clear
with gentle coolish breezes.

I could get used to this!
Hope you are loving
YOUR weekend!
fondly, cloudia
