in the side streets,
young dancers counting beats
by drums and cymbals
heard blocks away!
Soon the town will
shimmer with luck,
firecrackers popping,
faces lit with surprise
and joy.
We will feed them dollars
our paper wishes
into red mouths
of the lions
blessing the new year!
