A L O H A
From
Honolulu
Rainbow over water,
Water under birds,
Sky leaning on the hills
World whispering:
"You have survived the rain;
now walk the light that follows."
Rose pink and translucent,
transfixing me on my walk—
a small miracle pause
in an ordinary day.
As if the light leaned in
to whisper, Look closer.
Soft as a secret,
bright as a promise
almost forgotten.
Rose pink translucent,
my world focused on
one tender, glowing moment.
Beauty knows how
to stop time.
I will carry it
the rest of the day
a quiet bloom inside.
At dawn
something winged,
Angels arrive as a
change in the light.
What the sky calls
“morning”
the heart calls
“begin again.”
The angels are not
above us;
they are the quiet
that enters
when the night departs
and the soul
steps into the open field
of its own widening day.

for a piece of sculpture
in a home that
has a cat.
