Journey

A L O H A  From

H O N O L U L U

Sometimes we
make the
process more complicated
than we need to.
We will never make a
journey of a thousand miles
by fretting about how long
it will take or how hard
it will be. We make the
journey by taking each day
step by step and then
repeating it again and
again until we reach
our destination.
Joseph B. Wirthlin

It is not the strongest
of the species that survive,
nor the most intelligent,
but the one most
responsive to change.
Charles Darwin

Psychological research
has shown that even
infants prefer smiling,
kind faces over angry ones.
Babies, when together,
often share and show
generosity long before they
can even speak. And every
day, we see adults acting
with courage and kindness—
helping strangers, caring
for loved ones, standing up
for justice. The world is
full of quiet, ordinary
goodness. The darker
side of humanity exists,
yes—but it is not
the whole story.
It never has been.
  Allan N Schwartz PhD

In the middle of difficulty
lies opportunity.
Albert Einstein

there is no hurry.
We shall get there
someday.

 Linking To
Saturday Critters

Today I was out in public
when I heard a man calling
my name.
This adult "stranger"
explained that he was
one of the
students at my
after-school group at
He was glad to see me,
but I was more grateful to be
remembered after all
this time (late 90's)
A lovely moment!

Thanks for reminding us that there is more good in the world than evil. Pixie wants to know who was calling you by name and why you didn't introduce her to him...

Inspirational. Not surprised that your student remembers you - but glad that he got the chance to tell you. Glad for him and for you.

...thanks for Raiatea, we first heard her when she was a student at Maui Community College.

Two timeless reminders that progress is made not by force or brilliance alone, but through steady steps and the grace to adapt along the way

Living far away from where I taught, I am very unlikely to meet former students.

When standing in line the other day, the person in front of me said, see how human nature is all about fighting to get what we want first? I said human nature also shows we care and share with one another. She wasn't having any of that, and said only God is kind and loving. I had to disagree, but just smiled.

The first quote is perfect for me. I faced a challenge on our last trip and I did really good at now worrying about it ahead of time. And then each day came and I succeeded! I came home and wrote in my journal about it. Love that there are so many really good...ordinary people out there. Sweet hugs!

You find the most beautiful words to share with us, Cloudia. ;-)

The world is made for kindness, Cloudia. I love the fact that even babies respond to happy faces in such a positive way. Beautiful!
