Happiness After

 A L O H A  From

H O N O L U L U

All summer,
rooms closed— warm hopes cooled
by shadow and doubt. My smile lost for weeks
like missing keys; And life itself,
late, and shut out.

But today:
a window opened sun wakes the heart
from its rest. Happiness,
sudden and golden, -

- reminds the spirit
how to forget: age, endings, and
all that has passed—

- to travel forward,
a guest of possibility— young, at last!

My windows are flung open as well, as I also explore the great possibilities of the day.
