SO
Liberate yourself
from Consumerism.
Appreciate the simple,
needful things you buy.
And when you DO
treat yourself
you will
APPRECIATE
it consciously.
It's all about
Awareness,
Appreciation
We churn through
too much Stuff,
too much Activity.
Taste and See
how GOOD it is

Monday in Waikiki

What can you lose if you have your own heart?><>
"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air."
-Nathaniel Hawthorne
"A life of leisure and a life of laziness are two (different) things."
Ben Franklin
on the Boardwalk
at the New Jersey shore
a fortuneteller asked me
if I was an artist.
"Writer"
I answered.
"You will write the book,
don't worry."
And so I have,
scroll to the bottom of this page
then click on the book cover to find out more.
She further told me
that I would marry a
"kingly man"
younger than myself,
and live with him
in a foreign land.
And here we are
in Hawaii.
today
I met a man.
Older than me in years,
but eternally young
in his spirit.
All that time
we have been together.
He is kingly
and a delightful
little boy at once.
Happy Anniversary,
Honey.
He ha'upu keia no ka sweetie la
This is a remembrance for the sweetie
My warm beautiful pearl

O my Sweetie, O my Sweetie
E ku'u sweetie, e ku'u sweetie The intimate companion of the mist
O, so, relaxed with the ferns
Ka pilina a lilinoe
The beautiful one I've met
E luana nei, me ka palai
I ka beauty a o huia e
Kahiko ka ua i Punalu'u la
The usual rain is at Punalu'u
Upon the many Lehua blossoms
I ka pua o ka lehua
Arched above is the hued rainbow
In space above the Ko'olau cliffs
Pi'o mai la ke anuenue la
I ka lewa o ke Ko'olau
Puana keia mele no sweetie la
I'll sing a song for the Sweetie
My warm beautiful pearl
Ku'u momi nani mehana
Indeed, with you, is my love
Your admired always will be

I love everybody."
Louis Armstrong
Honolulu's Chinatown><>
"Chinatown is one of the coolest, most interesting places in urban Oahu.
Sure it's gritty, but that's part of it's charm.
Where else can you choose from a rainbow of perfumed shampoos
that sit on a shelf above raw goat meat and a whole pig's head?
It's not a manicured, controlled, master-planned community.
It has all the noise, smells and energy of an open market."
Lee Cataluna
Dizzie Gillespie
><>
Is the loss of yearning something to be mourned?
Or was it just the glorification of anxiety?
Even so - if that be the case -
I turned my unease
into a quest for
MORE
experience, knowledge,
and life.
Each new beginning of my life
has been preceded by
existential dissatisfaction
leading to a change,
to chance,
akin to a rebirth.
So is it OK,
or a cosmic sell-out,
to say:
"This must be the place,"
To feel content
or am I losing my edge,
my SELF?
The world
(I am discovering)
operates by rules
very different
from those I grew up with.
Perhaps I needn't be
on guard
quite so much.
I do believe
I will dare to choose
feel good
over
fear.
I made this decision
when I realized that
animals usually look pretty
relaxed.
And when the moment
of Leap & Pounce
is announced
I will do so in an
instant!
Then
return to grooming
and staring
into
Space...
ALOHA, my Year-End Friends!

Just For Today
Comfort Spiral is NOT about positive thinking!
It is more like the last day of school
as you begin to suspect how wonderful your life really can be.
Dare to believe it.
Tons of illusion, mistaken beliefs
and "shoulds"
can finally be taken off of your shoulders. . .
can finally be lain down. . .
"All truth passes through three stages:
First it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
Schopenhauer
><>
Fearless Gentleness:
Every day annoyances crop up naturally.
They are often triggers for the less-than-perfect sides of our nature. But exploding never accomplishes anything positive.
Holding a lid on rage causes physical/mental problems.
But all this can be safely dissipated.
De-escalate.
Then the provocation becomes fuel!
It can propel you into the heights of well being.
Each time you refuse to "rise to the bait," you develop your
perspective and detachment "muscles."
Lots of complications are avoided this way!
Every time you handle some "problem" with relaxed dignity,
powerful inner detachment and increased freedom of spirit
become yours.
All the kinetic energy of the situation will flow non-
destructively to your strength and merit,
and also to collective world peace.
Really. . .
Try to greet each complication as a "work out opportunity."
YOU WILL GROW HAPPIER!
The Hawaiians say: "He Mea Iki'" it's just a small thing.
Come, walk along the shoreline of your heart. . .
It's ALL small things!
ALOHA!
