During Holiday Seasons

there is a lot of work,

expectations, and pressure

in the air.

Routines

are disrupted;

And some of us

rely on our routines

to regulate our days.

We may be separated

from companions,

or worse:

our companion animals!

When I get tense

It's does me good 

to remember

that I am director

of my own movie.

Call a five minute break.

Assess the scene.

Sometimes, it's what

DOESN'T occur

that makes the piece!

[so it comes off simpler

than it is]

Don't play someone else's

role they've created for you.

Just tell yourself:

"CUT."

Then play it your way,

or not at all.

If voices be raised,

yours need not

be one of them.

Remember:

You are the Star

of your own movie!

a term for it:

When primates are

groom one another.

Simple enough.

But when the job

is done,

they carry on

attending.

This "Grooming Behavior"

strengthens social bonds

and health.

I have not 

combed out my 

neighbors-

BUT

The routine things

we say,

that have no

practical utility

are Grooming Language.

No one needs

to say it's a cold

[or hot] day"

CARE about 

"How is your day going"?

In New York

it is quick:

"How you doin?"

And the answer

is: "Good."

Just as quick,

but effective.
