End of Day Has It's Say

“Courage doesn't always roar.
Sometimes courage is
the quiet voice

Karma Burners
are those annoying
problems & issues
that get under your
skin.

You can't
stop worrying over
them, but in the
Big Picture
your life will go on
however they resolve.

Not true emergencies
they are the equivalent
of moral push-ups;
Opportunities for
gratitude. Yes,
life must be OK
if such a small irritant
can IRRITATE
so big.

Strategy: LAUGH

Thanks for
Laughing here!

First Hawaii Catholics

A  L  O  H  A   from   Honolulu!
" Different flowers
look good
to different people. "
                                  Chinese Proverb

  Our Lady of Peace
Malia O Ka Malu
[ lHawn. lit:' Maria of the Calm ]

 Oldest cathedral in continuous use
 in the United States.

 Saint Damien of
Molokaʻi was ordained here
on May 21, 1864.

Placed on the
National Register of Historic Places
in 1972.

" After some years of persecution
of Roman Catholicism in the
Hawaiian Islands (partly instigated by
Congregationalist and
Presbyterian missionaries
who had befriended the
Kamehameha dynasty)
the Royal Hawaiian government
issued an Edict of Toleration
creating freedom of religious
expression June 17, 1839

 As an act
of reconciliation,
Kamehameha III gave the
first Roman Catholic missionaries
a piece of the royal estate on
which to build the first
Roman Catholic church in the kingdom.
Ground was broken on July 9, 1840,
coinciding with the
Feast of Our Lady of Peace.
Mass was celebrated on that day,
and 280 native Hawaiians
received the sacraments of baptism,
confirmation, and first
Eucharist.
The cornerstone of the building
was ceremonially laid on
August 6, 1840.
Native Hawaiian volunteers harvested
 blocks of coral from the
shores of Ala Moana,
Kakaʻako, and Waikīkī.
Dedicated August 15, 1843 "

Fifty Years On - SELMA

Hawaii People Were There

" The single most powerful
 word in our democracy is...
“we.” WE the people.
WE shall overcome.
Yes WE can.
It is owned by no one. "
                                 President Obama

" What enormous faith
these men and women had
- faith in God
but also faith in America. "
                         President Obama
                                           at Selma

/\
Yesterday we recalled
Bloody Sunday.

marchers for fair voting rights
were met by the violence
of police with guns, clubs,
and trained attack dogs,
while attempting to walk
across a bridge.

Yesterday, President Obama,
Congressman John Lewis
(one of the beaten marchers
as a young man of 25)
and many others
walked that bridge
again.

We still march vigilant
against today's encroachments
on equality before our law.

Nothing Earthly is perfect,
No person, No Nation.
That is why we strive.

The desire to climb,
to explore, to grow,
are the deepest core
of our shared humanity.

But so are fear,
un-examined bias,
and lazy thinking.

I love my country.
I love what she stands for.
We call her to her
higher nature.

Dignity is on the march
still today.
All around the world.

It is not humans
that we battle,
but attitudes, shallow thinking,
shallow love.

Hate,
even so-called
"Righteous Anger"
chases away
light & understanding.
It is not the solution.

Don't fight-
Shed light!

Thank You
for shouldering
this wheel too.

Together. Friends.
My Prayer.

Lots of Love,
