Vandalism?
A little understanding
changes what we see.
Banana is a big grass,
not a tree.
When the banana bunches are full.
The plant completes it's cycle.
You cut the banana bunch,
And trample it to nurture the new growth.
You cut the banana bunch,
And trample it to nurture the new growth.
Only the root remains-
from which sprout new
banana "trees."
This is a semi-public space
in Waikiki frequented by the
homeless. This image makes
me think that someone
has Free Food
from the land -
and to share!
“My life is shaped by
the urgent need to
wander and observe, and
my camera is my passport.”
Steve McCurry

I could do with a few less urgent needs.
Free food and sharing are both wonderful things.
a beautiful post today. i love all 3 of the quotes and i did not know bananas are a grass. My dad raised bananas and my hubby does to, so have had banana grass most of my life and did not know the grass part.
Homeless. In Hawaii. That shouldn't be. We are doing this wrong. I mean we as in the entire planet.
Wise comments, my dears!
Didn´t know about the grass!
I didn't know about the grass either!
Excellent first quote Cloudia and so true. I hope as the bananas fall there is someone in need of them waiting below ✨
A lovely mural!
I love the quote and the banana grass-tree. Thanks for sharing.
You each bring happiness!!!!
I have a banana "tree" in my garden, now I know it's a grass.
That's sad that there are homeless people in Hawaii too.
Thanks for participating Cloudia.
Nice tropical images. I can relate to Steve McCurry's statement.
