Never Feel Age

 A L O H A From Honolulu!

When you take time, often

to reflect on the miracle of life -

the miracle that you are even

able to read this book -

the gift of sight , of love

and all the rest ,

it can help to remind you

that many of the things

that you think as

"big stuff" are really

just "small stuff" that

you are

turning into big stuff.

                  Richard Carlson

Never waste your time

trying to explain

who you are

to people who

are committed to

misunderstanding you.

I never feel age...If

you have creative work,

you don't have age or time.

Louise Nevelson

I Do & So Do You

A   L   O   H   A  !

When I was young I needed sexual ecstasy or a
hike to the top of a mountain to experience bliss.
Now I can feel it when I look at a
caterpillar on my garden path.

Grace is neither gentleness nor fragility.
Grace is treating yourself, others, and
even inanimate objects with respect.
          Kamand Kojouri

By the time we are 70, we have all had more
tragedy and more bliss in our lives than
we could have foreseen. If we are wise,
we realize that we are but one drop in the
great river we call life and that it has been a
miracle and a privilege to be alive.
                                 Mary Pipher

 Ask a child, or
a younger adult,
if they know more about life
and about themselves
this year than they did last.

No one ever feels
that they have not learned
something in the past year.

And yet Youth feels wiser.
While they see change closer up,
it's true, they lack the long
context that repetitions teach.

I may seem and behave
like your idea of a sweet,
or trying senior. But the
experience and context
are not yours yet
to understand.

That's fine.
I Do.

The December I Remember

Waikiki December Skies

it has its storms, it has its tides,
and in its depths it has its pearls too.

Turtle On Vacation

As many of you know, I have lived in Hawaii half my life, the better half. After many years, we had the opportunity to move to California for a  time. We were there four years, and accomplished what we had gone to do.

I have never taken these Islands for granted!
Living, working, growing here, has made me who I am, and shaped how I feel about life and others. This was never as clear as when I lived in a different climate both terrestrial and social.

This is my first December home
since Dec. 2014.

Every day I appreciate the balmy breezes, epic skies, and ways of life. Walking the few blocks to the beach, I repeat:
"I'm walking in the sun!
I'm walking in the sun!"

At last I feel that I can rest and look to the future
as a succession of such moments.
A retirement in the midst of life!

I love morning, noon and blessed night.

Here's hoping that YOU are marinating
in the healing celebration of
Your Home!

How To Be Lucky

A  L  O  H  A !
Century Center, Makiki Stream, Honolulu
We ought to lay up a stock of absurd enthusiasms in our youth, or else we shall reach the end of our journey with an empty heart, for we lose a great many on our way.

Sitting Pretty Pigeon
Stuff you like to do, you still do it -
just not so much. Stuff you don't like,
just don't do it anymore! . . .
Who can yell at you? Nobody!
And if they do, I can't hear anyway.

Scientists say that our
brains specialize in noticing
faces. Hence our talent for
finding them in unexpected
places. I say that this tree
root has been here a long time
and has seen much. Looks
elemental and stoic to me.
How many faces
do YOU see?
