All You Need To Warm Your Heart

A L O H A From Honolulu!

The older you get,
the more you realize it's
okay to live a life that
others don't understand.
Tyler Knott Gregson

When skies turn gray,
and raindrops fall,
Don't let your spirits
sink at all!
For in each drop
a gentle grace,
Symphonies of
nature's embrace.

"Snickers"
A worthy person is still
worthy even penniless.
A donkey is a donkey
even if finely saddled.
Turkish Proverb

My old 1973 bmw r75/5
The engine purrs a distant song, Two wheels parked, a journey done. No dust-kissed roads
or wind-whipped hair, Just echoes of adventures shared.

Each curve a prayer, each hill a test, A rebel hymn upon my chest. Now quiet roads of mind I roam, Old stories bloom, while here at home. For though the miles may cease to spin, The joy they brought still dwells within.
Contentment hums, a gentler tune, symphony of all that's been. The open road, a chapter closed, But in my heart, the legend grows.

So let the quiet be my guide, My journey's wisdom, deep inside. The motorcycle, a memory's gleam, But adventure flows on, the endless stream.
And in the stillness, I confess, The greatest ride is mindfulness. So let the engine's hum be still, I've chased enough, my cup is filled.

A nice warm shower,
a cup of tea, and
a caring ear may be all
you need to warm your heart.
Charles F. Glassman

Backlooks

A L O H A From Honolulu!
Conrad and I were taxi drivers together
here in Honolulu, circa 1990

There's no fence nor hedge around time that is gone. You can go back and have what you like of it, if you can remember. How Green Was My Valley
(1941)

How can time take so long,
yet pass so quickly?
Back then I yearned,
and wondered;
Today I have memories
and know.

Grab your coat,

and get your hat

Leave your worry on the doorstep
Just direct your feet
To the sunny side
of the street!

Looking back,
my life seems like

chief obstacle.

The Greater Part

 A   L   O   H   A  !

Dad always insisted

that he remembered

the first thing he ever saw:

"I was in my crib,
opened my eyes,
and saw a telephone pole
outside the window."

Appropriate for a city boy.

But we teased him

about the entire premise.

How could anyone have

a memory like that?

Now that Dad has passed on

by several winters, I find myself

perversely glad that he did not

have to live through a

world wide pandemic.

WWII was enough

global disruption

for any life.

His story?

Oh I believe it now.

Or perhaps

I just believe

the memory itself.

no one can steal."

Memories, Musings, Flying & Film

 A   L   O   H   A  !

When young, my father

was an usher

in a movie palace like this.

Then a projectionist in the

WWII US Army Air Corps.

Old movies were something

we shared. He had an

encyclopedic knowledge

of Hollywood film!

History,

especially of the 20th Century,

is a fascination of mine.

Well, I spent so much

time there!

JFK roared by me while

campaigning for president.

(I was only a wee thing!)

 I debated with James Michener

to my mothers humiliation,

and I once tried to joke

with Bob Hope on the

street in Philadelphia.

He wasn't having it,

 and the gorgeous blonde

with him looked bored.

I saw Nureyev leap

and hang in the air,

and I remember hearing

on the radio that the last

(US) Civil War widow had died.

Of course, I saw John Glenn

leave the earth,

Humans walk on the moon,

I attended Woodstock,

spoke with Timothy Leary,

and saw the first trans-oceanic

broadcast on Telstar.

Aviation is another

fascination of mine.

So I was beyond eager

to see

"Across The Pacific"

about Juan Tripp and

the earliest days of

commercial aviation

overseas.

Here We  Go!

Nobody who has not

been up in the sky

on a glorious morning

can possibly imagine

the way a pilot feels

in free heaven.

William T. Piper,
founder of Piper Aircraft Corporation

Is it irony to share

a flightless bird

for this week's

Wild Bird Wednesday?

What Was THAT?!?!

I was annoyed from the start

by the attitude of doubt

by the spectators that

I would never really

make the flight.

This attitude made me

more determined than

ever to succeed.

first woman to obtain a pilot’s license in the U.S.
