It's been a week today. . .

Since a normal evening at home (on board) became an emergency.

The sound of sirens still makes me jumpy, but I seem to be recovering

some sense of normalcy (which is really great for a certified 'worrier').

Of course it's not 'over.'

Our neighbors just over the horizon in Japan

face a nightmare that threatens to blow our way.

Everyday I hear of some local whose wife/husband is

visiting elderly relatives in Japan. Most of them have been heard from.

Oahu resident Jack Johnson is in Osaka with his family (and donated $50,000 USD).

Raiatea Helm has returned to the islands,

And the last stranded Japanese visitors have been repatriated.

Everyday there is some new 'benefit' to raise money,

we are cleaning up our debris,

and "Aloha Japan" shirts are selling out @ $20 per

100% for Japan relief.

The "Honolulu Festival" parade last Sunday

was a sea of Japanese participants chanting

"Unity" in Japanese. Quite moving as the crowds on the sidewalk

cheered them on.

It seems a small thing, all in all,

but our state has budget problems like most others at this time

and revenue projections are down

with the cancellation of many, many reservations from Japan

(and elsewhere)

In the Hawaiian language,

Wai means fresh water,

and water is recognized as a blessing

at the root of all life.



The word for Wealth

is water twice, water squared.

Wai Wai,

and a rich man

is a Kanaka Wai Wai.



But what is true wealth?

Who are the wealthy?



Yes, health is wealth,

they are only one letter apart!

But what is the root of wealth?


I see a clue in the nature of water:


that it must flow to be fully itself.



When confined, water gets musty

losing it's sparkle.



Living a consciousness of lack

I always despaired of ever having enough "water" in my possession.

I longed for a water-windfall of my own, just for me.

But I know now: that was cup-thinking.

And the cup always seemed half empty.



Now I know

that it is the flow

not the amount.

You cannot hold an ocean in a cup.

I bought my first laptop 10 years ago.
And I used it for the entire ten years;
Windows ME operating system and all!




When it was on it's last legs I anguished over it's replacement.
Some swear by APPLE. I've been a PC and learned it's Window ways, but I was willing to change for the right reasons.



I went back and forth.



Ultimately, I bought another Dell Inspirion 15
with the much heralded
WINDOWS 7.




This was a great decision!
Yes, I'm one of those people that the ad campaign is about:
I'm ecstatic about this dual core beauty
and after 3 weeks,

WINDOWS 7 has been nothing but a joy.



It has exceeded my expectations -

and I don't like change where my tools are concerned.

It takes too much energy from my creativity.
I just want things to work,
and Windows7 really does.
It's elegant.




So if it's time, treat yourself.
If you spend hours of your life on-line like I do,
it will be just like getting a new and better body.
I'm BEAUTIFUL again!

Incident #2:

A father and his 5 year old son have just completed their business in a shop.

The boy has a quarter that he is avidly playing with.
