Happy Tasting Beauty

A L O H A From Honolulu!

A happy person is not
a person in a certain set
of circumstances, but rather
a person with a certain
set of attitudes.
Hugh Downs

Why not seize the pleasure
at once, how often is
happiness destroyed by
preparation, foolish
preparations.
            Jane Austen

Hibiscus waimeae
White Kauai rosemallow, Hawaiian: kokiʻo keʻokeʻo, or kokiʻo kea is a species
of flowering plant within the okra family, Malvaceae, that is endemic to
the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaii.

The soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the ecstatic experience. Emily Dickinson

The defining function of the artist
is to cherish consciousness.
       Max Eastman

We are tasting
 the taste of eternity

Aspects

A L O H A From Honolulu!

Saturday 3 Dec. 2022

Repetition doesn’t really exist. As far as your mind is concerned, nothing happens the same twice, even if in every technical sense, the thing is identical. Your perception is constantly shifting. It doesn’t stay in one place. Brian Eno

The light of eternity gilds everything like morning.

I went to a restaurant that
serves 'breakfast at any time'.
So I ordered French Toast
during the Renaissance.
Steven Wright

You can't get mad at weather because weather's not about you. Apply that lesson to most other aspects of life. Douglas Coupland

 Kindness may be the best
communication tool of all.

Linking To

Our first Hawaii home was an actual
coffee shack in Captain Cook, Link
above Kealakekua Bay on the west side of
Hawaii Island [the Big Island].
We would turn off
the belt highway, and climb
Rabbit Hill through the coffee trees
with four wheel drive.

Above the coffee farm, our
shack was built into the hillside on
poles. We hiked it's jungle path ever day.
We visited erupting Mauna Kea
[Neighbor Maunaloa is erupting
in the news today!]
I describe all this in my Hawaii Novella:
"Aloha Where You Like Go?"

World's Best Weather

A  L  O  H  A !
Blooming Gorgeous Novato, Ca

"I hope you will go out
and let stories happen to you,
 and that you will
work them, water them
with your blood and tears
and laughter till they
bloom, till you yourself
burst into bloom."
                     Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Pixie and reflected palms, California

"By your own efforts
Waken yourself,
watch yourself,
And live joyfully."

" The one who would be
constant in happiness
must frequently change."
                           Confucius

^^^^^^^^^:^^^^^^^^^

A certain weather man in Honolulu
regularly boasts of the
"World's Best Weather"
and I nodded along for years.
BUT
Marin County California
has been sunny and Spring-Like
for about a week now.
I'm no longer so sure
about that title.

Tomorrow more sun
temps low 70's F.
All with a beguiling
chill that rides the breeze
off the Pacific, just
like an island Trade-wind.

This place is taking me over,
just as Hawaii did.
Waikiki is an exciting
urban beach resort.
But the birds and sounds
of nature here
are a daily
benediction.
I am remembering
the smells of the seasons
here on the edge of
a continent.

People feel lucky,
special & happy to
be here too;
Bay Area Pride!
North Bay Pride!

Folks are nice,
but the boundaries
are firmer.
Harder to get a smile
here - people keep to
themselves politely.

Island people will
talk your ear off!
And you'll smile
with them easily
for the most part.

So I'm smiling up a storm,
bringing da Aloha,
playing music on my ocarina
while I wait
outside and about on
errands. Strangely,
my music is changing:
less island, more jazzy
blues Cloudia beats.

Treadmill has
Changed My Life Too!
Right in the central part
of the house - not
hidden away.
We are using it daily.

I had forgotten how
GOOD I can feel!
I'm feeling
younger and fun-er,
lost some weight.

I know where I'm driving,
am developing places,
stories and memories.
(Stories: VERY important)

Like the time in Hawaii
riding with my motorcycle
gals, Sal gestures to me
riding along and
points at Joelle's Harley.
Flames are licking up
from the engine!

"Joelle," we shout,
"You Ass Is On FIRE!!!!"

Now THAT's a memory
to recall with a chuckle
EVERY TIME one
drives on Nuuanu Avenue
in Honolulu!
I miss saying that,
even to myself,
while driving there.
"Joelle!" LOL...

Here it's: where I saw
that hawk, Or
the neighbor's new
shrubs.
(Remember the old flowers?
Yay a story!)

No one's ass is on fire
here YET-
and that's a good thing.

Stay posted for new
developments as they
pop up.
Thanks for visiting.
It means a lot.

Glorious SUN

A  L  O  H  A !

“How often have I
lain beneath rain
on a strange roof,
thinking of home.”
William Faulkner

“I used to dream about
escaping my ordinary life,
but my life was never ordinary.
I had simply failed to notice
how extraordinary it was.
Likewise, I never imagined
that home might be
something I would miss.”
                      Ransom Riggs

“Perhaps home is
not a place
but simply an
irrevocable condition.”
                       James Baldwin

[///\/]

It has been rainy.
Like one storm
after another.
My old friend
Pacific, just up to
her tricks
.
But California needs
 rain and everyone has a
good attitude about it.
There were those
freeze warnings,
and temps in the
30's a while back;
I didn't sign up
for THAT!
But it was unusual
for The Bay Area,
and we are back in
the pleasant 50's.
I'll take it - all good.

And SPRING is a
real thing here!
That will just be
awesome.

Well, today is
Gloriously SUNNY!
Blues are blue,
greens are green,
vistas unlimited,
and this Hawaii gal
is blissed out on
All of It~

Just checking in.
So far - so great!

Hope your new year
is the same!
Fondly, cloudia
