Unrestrained And Often Silly

A L O H A From Honolulu!

Santa, Frosty & Nutcracker @ Hawaii Yacht Club

Nothing ever seems too bad,
too hard, or too sad when
you've got a Christmas tree
in the living room.
Nora Roberts

Clearing away clutter is
good for the soul, because
it allows your surroundings to be a
reflection of the person you are today,
not the person you were yesterday.
       Eleanor Brownn

 Clutter is anything that
does not support
your better self. Eleanor Brownn

Probably the reason we all
go so haywire at Christmas time
with the endless unrestrained and
often silly buying of gifts is that
we don’t quite know how
to put our love into words.
Harlan Miller

Feel

A L O H A From Honolulu!

Cordyline fruticosa is an evergreen flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae. The plant is of great cultural importance to the traditional animistic religions of Austronesian and Papuan peoples of the Pacific Islands, New Zealand, Island Southeast Asia, and Papua New Guinea. It is also cultivated for food, traditional medicine, and as an ornamental for its variously colored leaves. It is identified by a wide variety of common names, including ti plant, palm lily, cabbage palm.

Pillow Symbol

A L O H A From Honolulu!
Every year of my life
I grow more convinced that it
is wisest and best to fix our attention on the beautiful and good and dwell as little as possible on the dark and the base. Richard Cecil

Who is the person walking
in front of you on the rain-drenched sidewalk? He is covered with an umbrella, and all you can see is a dark coat and the shoes striking the puddles. And yet this person is the hero of his own life story. He is the love of someone’s life... And then continue on your own way. Vera Nazarian

The way we choose
to see the world creates the
world we see. Barry Neil Kaufman

Oh cat, I'd say, or pray: be-ootiful cat!
Delicious cat! Exquisite cat!
Satiny cat! Cat like a soft owl,
cat with paws like moths, jewelled
cat, miraculous cat!
Cat, cat, cat, cat.
Doris Lessing

How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol? How about the pillow? It has more feathers... and it doesn't have that dangerous beak. Jack Handy

Silence To Think

A L O H A From Honolulu!

May you delight in today.
May the child in you stir awake for a season
of Wonder and Hope.

You needn't own something to derive pleasure from it. Do you own a sunset, a moment, or a song?

Better than a thousand hollow words,
is one word that brings peace.
Buddha

Every piece of the universe,
even the tiniest little snow crystal,
matters somehow.
I have a place in the pattern,
and so do you…

So much space, such silence,
so much time. To drift.
To think. To let your mind
roam anywhere it pleases.
To dream. Perhaps the
true luxury of our age is not
the piles of goods we endlessly
accumulate, but Time.

Aspects

A L O H A From Honolulu!

Saturday 3 Dec. 2022

Repetition doesn’t really exist. As far as your mind is concerned, nothing happens the same twice, even if in every technical sense, the thing is identical. Your perception is constantly shifting. It doesn’t stay in one place. Brian Eno

Linking To

Our first Hawaii home was an actual
coffee shack in Captain Cook, Link
above Kealakekua Bay on the west side of
Hawaii Island [the Big Island].
We would turn off
the belt highway, and climb
Rabbit Hill through the coffee trees
with four wheel drive.

Above the coffee farm, our
shack was built into the hillside on
poles. We hiked it's jungle path ever day.
We visited erupting Mauna Kea
[Neighbor Maunaloa is erupting
in the news today!]
I describe all this in my Hawaii Novella:
"Aloha Where You Like Go?"
