Past Lives - Past Life

ALOHA !

“ Don’t grieve.
Anything you lose
comes round
 in another form. ”

  Rumi

“ If you're really
a mean person
you're going to
 come back as
 a fly
 and eat poop. ”

Kurt Cobain

“ For the first forty days
 a child
is given dreams
 of previous lives.
 Journeys, winding paths,
a hundred
 small lessons
and then the past
 is erased. ”

Michael Ondaatje

“ This life
 is but a brief
 tenure,
 one of many
 perspectives
 a spirit must
experience
 in the quest for
eternity. ”

Brian Rathbone

“ As a man, casting off
worn out garments
 taketh new ones,
so the dweller
 in the body,
 entereth into
 ones that are
 new. ”

  Epictetus

" You, I,
 we reincarnate over
and over.
We live many lives,
 and store up much
 experience.
Some are
 older souls
 than others
and so they
know more.
 It seems to be
 an intuitive "gift."
 It is really
 hard-won experience."

HENRY FORD,
Theosophist Magazine, Feb. 1930

Do you believe
that we live
 more than once?

Christian mystic

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said

" We are not human beings
 having a spiritual experience.
We are spiritual beings
 having a
 human experience.  "

One night in Kona
on Hawaii's Big Island
I had a spontaneous experience
of a past life.

Suddenly,
 I was an old woman
a long time ago.

For her too, it was night;
but she / I
was on a voyaging canoe
such as the Hawaiians of old
used in their oceanic
journeys and migrations.

Forgotten for centuries,
resumed only in recent years,
voyaging and way-finding
are the very heart
of the Hawaiian Soul.

Rhythms of wave,
wind,
and the
starry night sky
live on in the Koko,
the blood,
and in Hula.

What I remember
is confidence.
And belonging.

Confidence
in the voyaging kahunas
those young men
with the knowledge
who guided the canoe
nearby to me
and the others
across the churning
deck.

I felt a great
belonging,
so deep
we moderns have
forgotten it.

I was part of the others,
the island we left
and the one
we voyaged towards
together.

More a
"We"
than an
"I"

But I was there,
for that few moments:
a feeling,
a knowing,
a memory,
a truth.
No wonder then
that I look on
Hawaii
and her children
with the love of
a mother.

Another time,
hospitalized in 1997,
with very serious
pneumonia,
I learned
how precious
and indispensible
Each Breath is.

The whole experience
was a learning one,
I saw many things,
kept company with
Others.

One night
I knew I was
leaving;
Just the second before
I began to rise.

I understood
that I was accompanied
and would momentarily see
(just before I did)
myself,
the room,
hospital floor,
the night hillside,
Honolulu town,
our beloved island. . .
It all poured out
below me;
and I loved it all
very much.

Then
it was the whole
Earth I knew:

I knew all those
dying,
laughing,
being born,
crying

- Right Then -

all the struggle
and triumph
tiny and big
all the tumult of
LIFE-

I tasted it all
kissing it goodbye
because suddenly
I knew:
"Not your job anymore."

And oh the freedom!
Earth and her fate
meant nothing to me.

I was Myself again!

I  felt and knew
and understood
that restriction was
over.
I knew absoulute joy
and confidence,
a ruler returning
to a world of my peers.
All we chase here:
 sex and friendship,
confidence, possessions
security and wealth,
all we could lack
is SURPASSED
home at the Source!
Don;t need those
substitutes
anymore.
Our friends
and loved ones,
our fellow players,
THEY are there
more truly themselves
as we laughing
share
our earned rewards.

I knew my work
was not done.
So I came back.
Was gently SENT
back.

But how, I wondered
could I ever play Earth game,
resuming my position
on the field
among the other
players?

now that I know
how it all ends.

But fortunately,
my knowing grew dimmer,
becoming memory.

Again it is simple
to believe in
"what if" at 3 a.m.

So I remain eligible
to learn,
and to earn
more
 Spirit Virtue Points.

My life DID change;
I know that:
Love,
and Sharing love,
are the entire
POINT of the game.
(I'm cheating :-)

Everything else:
stage dressing.

So do Y O U
 think
that YOU have lived
 before?

Do you think
we will be
with our ancestors
again?

Glad you took the time
to stop by here first!

Honestly if we live multiple lives in a constant state of birth and rebirth until we become, Brahman,Buddha, or Christ then we will have a multitude of ancestors no? Or is that why all of humanity that ever lived from the first to this day are all one tribe, all of the same people.

I do think we come back and perhaps the truly good are allowed not to. No one truly knows how it will be, I guess.

I don't know. However, because I don't know I am not going to tell another that their beliefs are wrong. And if we do come back, I would like to come back as one of my own cats. (Please forgive my flippancy).

The Ondaatje quote and the first one are a bit special, I think. Out of the usual run. They deserve a bit of thought being given to them.

Before I get sidetracked, the images you've show today are wonderful Cloudia and very appropriate for the words. You certainly have has some very interesting 'other worldly' experiences. When the time comes it will be exciting and nervewracking to see what goes on!
p.s. I Googled your Uncle to see some more of his photos, his B&W style reminds me of Robert Doisneau and Henri Bresson, and he received two Academy awards, such a talented man.

I hope I'll be with my ancestors again. As far as past lives, I think there are weird things that happen on the quantum level with time. Perhaps we sometimes "share" lives with past people, even if we haven't lived a full life there before.

i do believe in reincarnation. i do believe in old souls and lessons to be learned until we get it right. i've not had any strong recollections or instances like yours, but i appreciate you sharing yours.

i love this quote: " We are not human beings

Oh yes Cloudia I do! Those are precious moments of believing that not everyone is willing or knowing to see. I am so happy you came back to us all- our greatest treasures in life-are our finest chapters, many still waiting to be read! Peace and joy all your life long-Karen

I hope so my friend. I have a saying that I use often, "Maybe in my next life." Things have happened in mine that makes me think long and hard outside of the box. I try to keep my mind open to all things.

I believe we do have past lives..

I don't think I'm from something in the past, I'm pretty sure my spirit is perturbed with me at present and is jumping up and down, and I hope my spirit is around in the future. DrumMajor

Cloudia, this reflection is tender and wise,a beautiful revelation of your soul.

I used to believe in an afterlife. Now, I believe we only have the here and now, and one chance to do things right. Our memories are accumulations of dreams and stories passed down and collected by us. The more we are open to points of view, the more we collect and can interpret in our daily interfaces.

What a wonderful revelation Cloudia. I do think we have other lives. But since I can't remember them, I must focus on this one. You had some wonderful experiences, they are great inspiration and motivation for me. And so is the quote about coming back as a fly.

The Rumi and M. Ondaatje quotes are very moving. Made me think much about the first 40 days spend with our son.

Yes. I do believe, that life is happening in circles. Currently feeling much like Samsara though.

Please have you all a good Thursday.

Good gosh! Cloudia, this is awesome! Have I lived before? I have no idea. I'm afraid I haven't had any inkling. If I did though something must have happened to make me afraid of spiders and driving.

Please! Once is more than enough for me. hahahaha

I wish it were true! I don't believe in reincarnation. I have a sister, though, who believes in being born over and over again.
