151st Kamehameha Day

A L O H A From Honolulu!

The subjects of King Kamehameha V
wished to honor him on his birthday with a holiday. Instead he proclaimed the first Kamehameha Day
on June 11, 1872 to honor his grandfather Kamehameha I unifier of
the Hawaiian Islands
into a monarchical form of government
established in 1810, an internationally
recognized nation state. This first
public holiday of the Kingdom
is still celebrated today as a
State of Hawaii Official Holiday
11 June Annually.

It never ceases to amaze me:
we all love ourselves more
than other people, but
care more about their
opinion than our own.
Marcus Aurelius

Beauty is a fairy;
sometimes she hides herself
in a flower-cup, or under a leaf,
or creeps into the old ivy,
and plays hide-and-seek
with the sunbeams...

It's one thing to be truthful
in what you say today.
It's another to uphold
your commitments tomorrow.
Honesty is being candid
as you talk. Integrity is
honoring those words as you walk.
