Comforting Embrace of the Expected

A L O H A From Honolulu!
Every culture dances to
it's own internal rhythm,
weaving threads of festivity
into the seasons, spaces for
shared experiences, and markers
of introspective renewal. Yet,
as much as I savor the
effervescence of the holidays,
a curious pang of anticipation
tugs at me as normalcy returns.

The gentle hum of routine,
like a well-worn melody,
holds a comforting charm for me.
Routines are the building blocks
of a life.
The purposeful hiss of morning buses
returning folks to their
daily endeavors–
these eternal
everyday scenes resonate
with a quiet beauty.

Watching children
off to school is a moving testament
to life's cycles of growth and learning.
Each returning kid, each
familiar face, whispers a
reassuring "life goes on."

The comforting embrace
of the expected, the quiet
reassurance of life's
resilient pulse, herald a season of
renewal, fresh canvas to paint.
Life's unpretentious glory
unfolds anew.

The chief beauty about time is
that you cannot waste it in advance.
The next year, the next day, the
next hour are lying ready for you,
as perfect, as unspoiled, as if
you had never wasted or misapplied
a single moment in all your life.
You can turn over a new leaf
every hour if you choose.
