" I've been thinking
about why you have toget famous
to get an award
for helping
other people.
" If your name is
John Doe,
and you work night
and day doing things
for your helpless neighbors,
what you get for your effort
is tired.
" So, Mr. and Mrs. Doe,
and all of you
who give of yourselves,
to those who carry
too big a burden
to make it
on their own,
" I want you to reach out
and take your share of this.
Because if I have earned it,
so too have you.”

I think I can take a pass--My mother always said if you expect a reward for doing what is right, it becomes wrong.
Yes, famous people get rewarded for just doing their job. Why is that?
I figure God knows what I've done, as I don't plan to be famous. Wouldn't have ever thought Sinatra to make such an eloquent statement. Mahalo for the views. DrumMajor
true that....the famous def have fun congratulating themselves for the good they do...and most of it goes unnoticed by the common man...but then again the heart in those tht have little says so much...

many heroes forgotten sadly
I know it seems so unfair, but I don;t pay attention to awards. The reward is the smile on the face of those helped.
Love the sentiment Cloudia, was surprised it was Frank Sinatra who said them..I like i when I learn something new.
wow. what an inspiring speech!
Wonderful sentiment, and so true. The unknowns who do most of the giving seldom get recognized. I'll take a moment to honor them too.
Thanks, winners !
Great words.
Happy New Year!
Cheers!

Nice picture with the palm trees. It is only since a few weeks ago that I realise how tall these palm trees can be.
