Morning Fog Creeps In

“Fall in love

with the energy

of the mornings -

" -trace your fingers

along the lull

of the afternoons -

" -take the spirit
of the evenings
in your arms
kiss it deeply

and then
make love
to the tranquility
of the nights.”

Diamond Head Near And Far

“There's something wrong
in not appreciating one's
own special abilities, my girl. -

" - Find your own limitations,
yes, but don't limit yourself
with false modesty.”
                                   Anne McCaffrey

"The iconic silhouette of
Diamond Head State Monument
sits along the Honolulu skyline
just beyond Waikiki.
Leahi (brow of the tuna) in Hawaiian,
the crater was named Diamond Head
by 19th century British sailors
who thought they discovered
diamonds on the crater's slopes."

"All that we see or seem -

-is but a dream
within a dream.”

Deity Presents Itself

A  L  O  H  A !
 Across the Nu`uanu Canal
in Honolulu's Chinatown,
you will discover
Mission Of Hawaii since 1906.

Entering the sacred and magical precincts
"Sacred places are typically marked
with a shimenawa (special plaited rope).
Shimenawa mark the boundary
between the sacred and the profane.
They keep impurities out and
purify the space within.

 Shishi 獅子  or Koma-inu

"If we keep un-perverted
the human heart
—which is like unto heaven
and received from the earth—
that is God."

Shake the rope -ring the bell
That is a big wide Shimenawa
rope at the top!

John Wayne filmed a scene for
'Big Jim McClain' here in 1952.

"Even the wishes of an
ant reach to heaven."

Let There Be Light

"The best and surest way
to be one with the
divine is sincerity."

Shinto paper lightening bolts
bring down the natural
energies from Heaven.

Mundane tools to
maintain the sacred.
Note the SAKE case
and brooms.
Sake is used in ceremonies.

Back when this area was
Honolulu's Japantown,
the TOYO Theater echoed
the architecture of the Shrine
just up the block

'Still' from Big Jim McLain filmed at the Mission

"Even in one single leaf on a tree,
or in one blade of grass,
 the awesome Deity presents itself."

 “It's wonderful to be grateful.
To have that gratitude well out
from deep within you and
pour out in waves.
Once you truly experience this,
you will never want
to give it up.”
                  Srikumar Rao

 "Sometimes you just need
to talk about something—
not to get sympathy or help,
but just to kill its power by
allowing the truth of things
to hit the air."
Karen Salmansohn

“Negative people need
drama like oxygen.
Stay positive, it'll take
their breath away.”

You win by not being

One theme of my life has been
to profoundly learn appreciation
for the intelligence of so-called
stupid people and the stupidity
of so-called intelligent people.

Know what I mean?
