is to subdue the enemy
without fighting.”

Every two years since 1971 by invitation of
Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (PACFLT)
An international maritime excercise is held in
Our Hawaiian waters.
This year, for the first time,
CHINA is participating
with the US Navy and guest
ships, aircraft, and personel
from Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile,
Columbia, France, India, Indonesia,
Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands,
New Zealand, Norway, Peru,
South Korea, Philippines,
Singapore,
Tonga and The United Kingdom.
(Thailand was dis-invited on account of the coup)
49 ships, 25,000 people,
6 submarines,
and over 200 aircraft
[including a NASA predator drone!]
will conduct War Games,
Humanitarian Assistance exercises,
establish procedures for communication
and cooperation,
even staging an amphibious
assault of Oahu's Bellows Beach
(officially a US Airforce Base).
Highlights include:
Aircraft Carrier Ronald Reagan,
Chinese missile destroyer Haikou
Hospital Ship, Peace Ark,
Peace Ark [China] entering Pearl Harbor
missile frigate, Yueyang,
and supply ship Qiandaohu.

USN Hospital Ship, Mercy,
[ 2 hospital ships with Peace Ark! ]
Aluminium Trimaran USS Independence,
[ a new generation warship ]
USN Ronald Reagan, Honolulu 26 June
And then there is the issue
of garage door openers.
The Navy calibrates and tests
shipboard RADAR and COMS
(communications)
BEFORE leaving Pearl Harbor
with military playmates,
which plays havoc with weaker
civilian garage door openers
in the residential areas overlooking
the famous Naval Base.
Many will not even notice:
There will be a bit of noise,
visiting military, traffic.
A Small price to pay for the
humanitarian and defense benefits.
Including the intangibles
like familiarity and
friendships
that develop between humans
of different nations
working together.
It is claimed that Hawaii
will see $52 Million in
related economic activity.

What beautiful ships! I find it interesting that it would affect garage doors. Do people have to use the manual option?
Haha. I saw the news the other day about the garage doors. Too funny. Beautiful pictures of the ships. We don't get to many on KBay so it's nice to see that RIM PAC actually does exist.
ha. interesting side effect on the garage doors....if only we did not have to hit...wonder if the navy's new billions of dollar ship will be shown off...wonder what else those billions could have been spent on...oy, sorry, i am thankful for those that serve, just question why people go hungry while we build bigger guns...
aloha from va
i do hope it goes well. interesting about the garage door openers. :)
I did not know the invasion had begun... And they've figured out how to open our garage doors!! Oh no! Have a good weekend. Love the pics of ships.
If all war was kept to games we'd be fine.
Abe Lincoln's comment is so true, just look at Iraq.
And Chas. Gramlich's comment above is absolutely a great truism!
Wow! All the action is in comments today. Great sentiments I agree with!
Thanks friends♥
Echoing here. If only war was only games...
My countdown is started, 32 days and I'll be back in paradise
Aloha

I hope they continue to cooperate peacefully.

Certainly crowded in the neighbourhood at the moment. I didn't know that about the garage door openers. I like the quotes.
All Pixie cares about is getting food and attention, not war games.
Or as in Kim Jon Un's case
Throw a temper tantrum, and act big, that will teach the USA.
Not nearly intriguing enough to pique Pixie's interest :) That's one heck of a big naval manoeuvre going on there Cloudia.. As you say good to see so many nations working together, hopefully a good sign for the future..
Ahoy, Mateys! Love you guys
