Adelle's Resonance

 A  L  O  H  A !

Whither  the voyage?
 “What the caterpillar calls
the end of the world,
the master calls
a butterfly.”

 Richard Bach

 needs a 'click' to bloom
" A kind soul knows:
impoliteness
is just preoccupied
with distraction. "

My thoughts
on what is SO great
about Adele's
Rolling in the Deep

It's powerful, controlled and has a rhythm
that matches the inexorable acceleration
many of us feel in these precarious times.

Is that unique to our time?
Or has every generation
felt the miles roll by like this?
Stop the world!
I Want to get off!

Yet,
this triumph of art,
of voice, of identity
and control
heartens us, strengthens us,
reconnecting us to our own
power.

In Rolling
we seem to ride the whirlwind
in a way that does our generation proud.
We've been knocked about,
but we are still singing,
still STRONG!

No one knows
where the maelstrom will ultimately take us,
but we go in style!

Throw in the human drama
of Adelle losing, then regaining
her voice,
and you have a complete emblem
of regeneration,
of hope itself.

Brava!

My Honolulu Airspace

A   L   O   H   A  !

Honolulu City Lights by Keola & Kapono Beamer on Grooveshark

After living below decks
on our boat for 20 years,
I now have intimate communion
with cloudy friends & relatives
from my high parapet.

Planes arriving and leaving
via Honolulu International Airport
fly offshore, along the coast of Waikiki.
I have a nice view of landings
and takeoffs
under my oversight

Joint Base Hickam-Pearl Harbor
is in the same vicinity.
Here an F-22 Raptor
sports like a
spirited pony.

Boeing C-17 Heavy Airlift ships
globe-hop from here:
Humanitarian missions
throughout the Pacific
in times of disaster:
Samoan tsunami-
Japanese earthquake/tsunami.

And, yes,
they carry people & arms
to war.

( Returning warriors
are usually aboard chartered
commercial craft. )

Here Airforce One
says goodbye to Oahu
after a visit
by the First Family.

See the plane to the right?

High Flight

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
— John Gillespie Magee, Jr

Where are they all going?
Aloha-

Of course, there are those of us
who have found our home,
our Shangri  La,
here in Honolulu Town.
Happily
visitors like to come
and visit us-
JOLLY!

Thank You
SO
for being among them-

Did you hear about the snail

When asked for details

" The tree which moves some to tears of joy

But to the eyes of imagination,
nature is
imagination itself. "

Modern Research Psychology
is showing us much
about how we really
make decisions.

Even eye-witness memories
are not just facts
but constructions
based on what
we think that we know.

Most often,
we see what we
expect to see.

We find
what we expect to find,
by noticing confirmation
of our beliefs,
and failing to note-
or even notice-
that which does not fit
what we
"KNOW."

It is my belief
that unconscious bias
is the secret motor
of the world.

Many fight against
those they deem
hypocrites,
or "wrong"
or even
"evil."

I fight not bad people
but good intentions
gone awry.

It takes great discrimination,
dedication,
honesty & humility
even to begin
to unfold
our OWN
bias-

But be sure of one thing:
bias lives
in you
and in me.

Can you think of a bias
that you have examined
and disposed of?

Thank YOU for spending time here
with us !

Gonna Fly Now

A   L   O   H   A  !

Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti on Grooveshark

"I once had a sparrow
alight upon my shoulder
for a moment,

while I was hoeing
in a village garden,

and I felt that I was more distinguished
by that circumstance

than I should have been
by any epaulet I could have worn."

Henry David Thoreau

Our  bird friend today
is a Red Crested Cardinal,
 Paroaria coronata
commonly seen here on Oahu.

These colorful flyers
were introduced to both Hawaii
& Puerto Rico around 1930.

 Sometimes called the
  "Brazilian Cardinal"
The species is native to
South America.

Omnivores, they
feed on fruit, seeds, plant matter,
human cast-offs, and tasty insects.

Thank you for flying here!
Do look in on Comments,
see all the exotic birds
there;
BE one of them-

What treasure
have you forgotten about?

It's most likely hiding
in plain sight.

Something, or someone,
that once meant
the world to you-

in fact, discovering them
was like discovering
a whole
new world.

Abundance
and wealth
are more than
just finances.
What makes
your life
rich?

What is your
overlooked
treasure?
Tell us in comments!

Your visit here
is a treasure
to me.

Thank YOU!
