Real Feel-Good

Aloha, Friend!

Click on the crater
Diamond Head,
the way WE see it.

“We are all visitors to this time, this place.

We are just passing through.

Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love...

and then we return home.”

Australian Aboriginal Proverb

"We are supposed to be
the messengers of peace for humanity."

Smiling Buddha Goes for a Ride

"It is better to travel well than to arrive."

Researchers as the University of Wisconsin
conducted an experiment with girls ages 7 to 12
in which they exposed the girls to the stress of speaking
to a group of strangers.
Afterward, a third of the girls were hugged by their mothers,
a third spoke to mom on the phone,
and a third watched a film.
While measured stress rose in the movie watchers,
the stress in both other groups
dropped equally.
"That a simple phone call
could have this physiological effect on oxytocin
is really exciting."
Co-investigator Seth Pollak told Scientific American.

Your visits make me feel wonderful,
and that's a scientific FACT!

Happy Weekend,
cloudia

Yes! Every day we should think about that: "We are only visiters at this world, for just a moment".
Also to you a beautiful weekend and have a nice day...

The raw power of anxiety and calming drives so much of our lives. It's underrated.

I love the idea of this study. I have always, especially when in a depression, negated the ways in which I helped my adult children. Great photos!

Love the see saw diamond sign in the foreground of Diamond Head. Thank you for that local perspective and not the glossy tourist shot! :)

I just loved the Australian aboriginal proverb. It's so profound.

I know of a few poems by Native Peoples and there really is very little difference between their words and the words of wisdom from any poet, of whatever age, colour, creed.
I love trawling through mankind's collective consciousness, as I think you do.

I have to ask--- What is the See-Saw sign, and what does it say? Or did someone stick something on it. I've never seen that one before?

Playground?

Great perspective on Diamond Head and Life---It's on as pretty as we make it Yes???

Great stuff my friend!!!

That is great news. I am glad there is scientific evidence to support the value of all this goodness making the rounds.

Thanks for the Buddha quote, too. I will hang that in my classroom.

I wonder what it would be like to have a mother who actually makes you feel better?

Dear Fireblossom -- please find a substitute mother for hugs and phone calls...it's okay to choose another mom when an original one throws curveballs.
Aloha Cloudia -- mahalo for the blog-hug / blog-call. LOVE the neighborly view toward Diamond Head. During a family trip to DC, I met a Hawaii guy-couple within our hotel. Such instant aloha when we're all wearing the right shirts! DC can keep all of it's carved marble....I love Hawaiian lava more.
My new 9 hardy hibiscus bushes are growing like illegal plants! Hope they sprout some flowers soon!
Aloha, DrumMajor
