Dancing Under Diamond Head

Aloha & Thank YOU for visiting today!

How did the future appear to you
when you were young?

What did you want to become?

Did you expect to be the sort
that they raise statues to honor?

Is your life today the life you foresaw?

John Lennon famously said that "Life is what happens,
while you are busy making other plans."

(Sort of: "Man proposes, God disposes.")

I think he was talking about more
than life's mere uncertainty,
and our smallness in the face of that. . .

This week,
I have had to do lot's of stuff
that prevented me from doing
the "important" stuff
that I wanted to do.
(Like visit more of your blogs!)

But I'm beginning to understand that whatever comes up
-LIFE!-
(even when it seemingly detracts and distracts)
always remains a gift.
THE gift.

The unplanned grants us insight and experience
that fills a deeper need;

Freeing us from our stale selves,

giving us what we didn't even know that we needed!

Zen masters knew all about this.

Ah!

Life is such a queer, dear dance.

At Bon season here in Hawaii
we dance with the generations,
young & old inviting those passed
to be with us again for a special time.

If you click on the song,
and then watch the video slide show as it plays,
You may feel deep emotion as you
muse on the puzzle of life, our plans,
and our relationships.

I did.

Couldn't WAIT to share this with YOU

Come Dance-

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. I like the pics, but am being VERY careful about bandwidth usage now, so reluctantly skipped the song and video :-(
The only thing I remember wanting to do when I was a girl was raise horses. Then when I grew up, I mostly didn't do that. However, I am a country girl still: I live out of the urban or even suburban areas and love it. I just don't have livestock to care for!

"(Sort of: "Man proposes, God disposes.")"

Yep. If you mean God's hand of providence is upon His children, those who love Him.

That made ma think of a few sayings of Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus said, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

And, "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out."

And, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one."

I saw you over at Maalie's and hope you don't mind I shared a few thoughts.

I'm not much into dancing, though my wife is, and has done a few dance programs at church, and some ballet.

I haven't gone to a single bon dance this year. Doggone it!

I didn't realize that John Lennon said that. It's so true. I've always loved that quote.

I am all in favor of a queer dance! ;-)

Listen, I had heard that song "I Hope You Dance" once, totally by accident. It was playing in a store or I caught it on the radio, I can't remember, but I loved it. Trouble was, I didn't know what what it was, or who sang it. Now I do!

Cloudia - My socks are off and the towel is swinging! When following your directions to click on the song, then play the video, it was lovely. My nursing graduation class voted to use "I Hope You Dance" for our processional and recessional. Mahalo, DrumMajor

Hi Cloudia! I’m back!! One week off, one week to deal with the mess created by the absence, a birthday almost no one noticed and a weekend to rest a little bit...

Wonderful video, great post!!

Meanwhile Blogtrotter Two is enjoying a fabulous hotel: the Cala di Volpe in Costa Smeralda!! Enjoy, comment and have a great weekend!

Aloha Cloudia! Nice post! Ron and I have moved over to the Big Island in Puna. We found a nice little house in the jungle and are living off the grid here. Hope all is well in the marina. Hugs, Jen

I like old dances that included everyone, young and old. That seems so much to be missing from today's common culture.
