"Dancing on the Moon" - Fleischer Cartoon Classic 1935

A L O H A !

Ah, a lazy Island Saturday !

 Once around Diamond Head
 - that's Diamond Head Light,
 home (the attached house)
to the Grand Poohbah
 of the US Coast Guard
 District

 Look -
I caught a bird in flight!
(see how the feet
are extended to land?)

Well, We've
"Played Outside"
Now let's
REALLY
be kids again!

 <>[}:{]<>

 When we were young
Saturday morning
was the time
to watch CARTOONS
on the little black & white
TV.

Before Sponge Bob,
or Angry Birds,
a whole other
wondrous world
was created
by a man
you probably never
heard of:

" Max Fleischer
(July 19, 1883 – September 11, 1972)
 was an American animator.
He was a pioneer in the development
 of the animated cartoon
and served as the head of Fleischer Studios.
He brought such animated characters as
and Superman to the movie screen
and was responsible for
a number of technological innovations. "

 =^.^=

If you remember Betty Boop
and her pal Bimbo,
if you remember
dancing, singing flowers,
and a clothed animal audience
watching a live show,
you ALREADY have
the Fleischer bug!

Are there things
 from your own
childhood
that you think about
from time to time?

Is there an old song
that starts playing
 in your head,
as it has for
decades?

Well here's mine -
BIG TIME!

Thanks to You Tube
nothing is really lost.

So shall we dance?

On the moon?!

I think you'll be glad
if you watch this
technologically
AMAZING
animation from the
1930s

Oh Cloudia you are so right! Keep the little child inside of us, a part of every day. I use Youtube all the time! It keeps the things I truly long for right at the stroke of a finger. Your first photo is so remarkably inviting and quaint. I've wondered if you ever see Hollyhocks growing? They must be pretty marvelous in your land. Share some if you can! :)

I wish we could get a pic of a woodpecker landing on a tree. the tree seems to just suck them in.

Oh gosh that brought back long forgotten memories Cloudia, hahaha! love the storks at the end, life was so much simpler in those old cartoons. I remember enjoying them all. Loved the first image, looks like it could be 'Aunty's' house yeh!

That was such fun, I watched the whole of it and found it so nostalgic. Nobody does this nowadays.

Those cartoons were a part of my growing up, too. We'd watch the old cartoons as dad got ready for work. We got a whole lot of the day counted out in cartoons even before we left for school!

I never saw the actual cartoon, until now, but it is awesome. I always remembered clips from it that Grandaddy used for "stray dog and the chocolate shake"
