When I'm Nice

A  L  O  H  A !
"There was a little girl

who had a little curl -

 Right in the middle
 of her forehead,

And when she was good,
 she was very,
 very good,

But when she was bad
 she was horrid."

 Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When I'm nice,

I'm Very Very

But when I'm

I used to be a tough
 and angry person;
Just the way I was raised.

Now that I've learned
the value of Aloha
(and YOU have been
some of my best
My world has become
full of good people
everywhere I go.

But being human
(on the internet you can't tell,
I might be a literate dog)
I have my less than pleasant days.

Then I may radiate less warmth,
but at worst, I'm neutral,
never rude,
and that beats HORRID
ANY day!

Is there something that
YOU have worked
to improve
about YOURself?

That's right, Cloudia! A little bit of an irritant but not horrid. Nicely!

That's a good way to be! Nicer for us and better for you.

I'm working on not getting cross when people do stupid things when they're driving, still got a way to go with it!

Of course, there's always the Mae West version: "When I'm bad, I'm better!"

Shhh @ the literate dog. I don't want it generally known that Bosco dictates all the poems to me and I just write them down!

How's kitty cat?

Love the image of you as a literate dog! My mom used to always recite that poem to me when I was little...

I try hard not to be rude, unless someone is deliberately rude to me first. But I'm not sure I always succeed. I'm kind of hotheaded.

Sarcasm...I used to be really sarcastic, until I heard somewhere that the word comes from the Latin for "tearing flesh"...and I realized what a hurtful weapon my tongue could be...

Aloha, dear one.

thanx Clodia♥
you make my day♥♥♥

I'm still a work in progress, and keep trying and trying. Seeing things like this inspire me greatly. (PS I remember the Milosz quote starting your book - so wise to use him, he was a great thinker)

Hawaii has had a mellowing effect on me, too.
I did not know Longfellow wrote that poem. I thought it was a nursery rhyme.
