A  L  O  H  A !
" No matter how smart
you thought you were,
you are actually
way less smart
than that."

David Foster Wallace

" We are always
the same age

Gertrude Stein

" The face of a child
can  say it all.
the mouth part
of the face."

Jack Handey

Are Today's quotes:

I suspect there is no
correct answer.

Is there a universal word
understood all over our globe?

Dutch scientists say
[ That's a 'Yes']

10 languages on
5 continents:
Dutch, Icelandic,
Mandarin Chinese,
West African Siwu,
 Australian aboriginal
Murrinh-Patha -

ALL use

" -only 'Huh?' occurs
across languages
whose phonetic patterns
otherwise vary greatly. "

 Mark Dingemanse,
Francisco Torreira.
 Nick Enfield,
Max Planck Institute
for Psycholinguistics

New York Times (Link)

As I told my (blog invisible) husband:
"I cause nice people ALL over the world
to go "Huh???"

                                    Warmly, cloudia

Huh! Yes, it is universal. Safe to just 'huh' and develop friendships. Nicely Cloudia!

I could be the same age I was when I was the age I was when I started to write this. But I don't think so.

Those people said those dumb things? Must've been the VOG affecting their brains.
Good to know I can use "huh?" anywhere.
Have an easy day; don't confuse hubby or the kitty.

Si or oui do well, too!

I think a component of intelligence is the awareness of the limitations of what we know. Another one is what is really important!

May you have a joyous day. Hang loose, and smile lots!

What did I hear you say? Huh? ;)))

Of course you have to make allowances for typos. That should have been Esperanto which you probably figured out faster than me.

Even up here in Quebec we say huh? even though it's not used in our main language(french).

Keep the quotes coming. Inspirational or not, they're food for thoughts!

Great quotes like the ones you posted enrich our thoughts.

That was fun! Huh may be the universal acknowledgment that we don't know everything! Huh for humility!

Hmmm? Really? Isn't this funny? I wonder what other similar words there are.

Things that make you go huh :)) I like it and I like the Jack Handley quote, that's what I love about children!

We are all united in our confusion!:) I heard this on NPR and loved it - to think it could've been a word from our first language!
