Law of the Rights of Mother Earth
is based on the understanding
that the Well Being of this Planet
is primary to all of us, to every creature,
to the Future.
Earth, her ecosystems
and human communities
are recognized as titleholders
of inherent rights
which the law spells out.
In the USA,
corporations enjoy
Human Rights
including privacy.
Well funded confusers
deny human impacts
on the Earth and our
Climate.
China, Russia, USA
are essentially owned
and operated
by economic elites;
a mere handful of
people.
It is the emerging nations:
India, Africa, South America,
who might lead us forward
through the basic wisdom
they have not yet had
confused out of them.
God, Bless the common people,
the animals, the beings of Nature.
We all need to pay attention
when Big Money lies to us.
Thus endeth the sermon;
my sermon of Earth Day.
I was at the first Earth Day celebration
April 22 , 1970,
at Fairmount Park's Belmont Plateau
in Philadelphia.
The US Environmental Protection Agency
was proposed by President Richard Nixon (R)
and began operation on December 2, 1970,
after he signed an executive order.

great post. I wish that we had come further than we have in the decades since the first earth day. In many ways it seems like we are worse off...plastics, GMO's....but in some ways we are better off so I suppose there is hope.
Happy Earth Day, Cloudia! Wise thoughts and beautiful pictures.
That cardinal is handsome!
With such beautiful surroundings, every day is Earth Day in Hawaii. I admire those wanting to preserve it. DrumMajor
Beautiful post.
Happy Earth Day
it is sad to think that it takes practice to keep us apart...but it does speak to our ownership of the situation....we are all connected
happy earth day....

A most fitting and beautiful post Cloudia. I'm thinking just like Henry, and Lyra and I spent an early earth day yesterday! The results of some of our hike is at Carmi's Chaos for this week!
I'm still feeling itchy, after yesterday! Hehehe!
Being, not having, Cloudia - how true. But I think maybe one does not realise this until one gets older.
Unfortunately, as soon as the elites decide the emerging countries are worth worrying about they will end up taking those over too
so beautiful. i just love those cardinals!
Excellent post Cloudia, I agree with your first commenter, we need to do so much more. J'adore your tiny red crested cardinal, you were lucky he sat still for you. Henry Miller had some good thoughts along with his 'saucy' works :)
Happy Earth Day
Wonderful. Happy Earth Day.
Thanks, Each of YOU ♥
Beautiful pics for the occasion.
Greetings to you too!
Fine post, Cloudia. And very cool that you were part of the first Earth Day celebration.
Your last photograph is especially stunning. In 1970 I was living in Honolulu...a long time ago now :).
Ironic that Nixon of all people would have instituted that agency.
We have ourselves a PM who's hellbent on stripping all regulations, muzzling all scientists from saying anything, and giving the oil companies whatever they want.
Thank you.
Such a pretty bird!

Very interesting post, Cloudia !
I love the pretty bird.
Aloha !
Wonderful post, Cloudia. Art will be thrilled since he did work for the USEPA for over 20 years.
It's all in the perspective, isn't it? Congratulations on your POTW.
Very cool that you were there on that very first Earth Day!
My oldest son was born on the 20th anniversary of Earth Day. For several years he assisted in creating a birthday cake that looked like a map of the earth.
Indeed a good post. I remember the first Earth Day. I was in 8th grade and had to walk the school grounds to pick up trash. I, too, wish we were much further ahead.
