The More You Defend A Lie, The Angrier You Become

 Mitch Albom

A   L   O   H   A  !

Above all, don't lie to yourself.

The man who lies to himself

and listens to his own lie

comes to a point that he

cannot distinguish the

truth within him,

or around him,

and so loses all respect for

himself and for others.

And having no respect

he ceases to love.

Fyodor Dostoevsky

Things come apart so easily

when they have been held

together with lies.

Dorothy Allison

A lie can travel

halfway around the world

while the truth is

putting on its shoes.

Mark Twain

Every violation of truth is

not only a sort of suicide

in the liar, but is

a stab at the health

of human society.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

A successful lie cannot

be brought into this world

 and capriciously abandoned;

like any committed relationship,

it must be maintained, and

with far more devotion

than the truth, which carries on

being carelessly true

without any help.

Lionel Shriver

Honorable Compact

 A   L   O   H   A  !

Tell me and I’ll forget.

Involve me,

and I’ll understand.

Native American Insight

We do not want riches,

but we do want to

train our children right.

Riches would do us no good.

We could not take them

with us to the other world.

We do not want riches.

We want peace and love.

      Red Cloud, Makhpiya-luta

Everyone might act different

from what was considered right

did he choose to do so, but

such acts would bring upon him

the censure of the Nation….

This fear of the Nation’s censure

acted as a mighty band,

binding all in one social,

honorable compact.

Tecumseh Shawnee

When you were born,

you cried, and the

world rejoiced.

Live your life so that when

you die, the world cries

and you rejoice.

Old Ends New Beginnings

The aim of art is to

represent not the outward

appearance of things, but

their inward significance.

Aristotle

When evil men plot,

good men must plan.

When evil men burn and bomb,

good men must build and bind.

When evil men shout

ugly words of hatred,

good men must

commit themselves

to the glories of love.

Portals

 A   L   O   H   A  !

For a long time

nothing but

undifferentiated

clouds.

Then, subtly, a portal

seems to appear.

Yes. There it is. See it?

OK Enter

Blue Skies say:

"All Is Well."

To our eyes,

portals of the Soul,

that express and also

feed on beauty,

Like this sky

beckoning "Enter"

Invitation to a

wondrous pink world

Torii have been around for centuries, though their true origin is shrouded in mystery. The word itself derives from phrases that mean "pass through and enter" and "bird perch" (in Japan, birds have a symbolic connection with death). The earliest toriis that still stand today were built as far back as the 12th century, but the structure's history stretches back to the Heian period in the 900s.
