When Hina mentions the MAHU, the very staid official crowd goes WILD!
Mahu is a feminine male in traditional Hawaiian culture; and honored role. The word has come to be a taunt and slur equal to "Fag"
Hina reclaimed it in this context and the audience applauded the new status of same sex couples under Hawaii law this week.

Soo glad this chant was shared. Most beautiful spoken Hawaiian I have heard, so fluent, even though I am not at all. Would love a translation, but it was a beautiful presentation.
