Makiki Christian Church, Honolulu

A  L  O  H  A !     from Honolulu
 Is this a
Samurai Castle
in Japan?

 No!
It is Makiki Christian Church
 right here in Honolulu!

" Inspired by the early Edo period
(late sixteenth–early seventeenth century)
Himeji Castle in Japan,
this church is the only
Christian church in the United States
to be modeled after a
sixteenth-century Japanese castle. "

A Vital Thriving Part of Our Honolulu
and one of my personal
favorite buildings on
our islands.

When I looked at the first photograph I immediately thought of Himeji Castle which I visited a few years back while in Japan. Thanks for sharing this unique church building.
