It can be very useful
to realize that something
can be deeply, meaningfully,
true to another person,
even though the FACTS
as you see them
seem to contradict their
deep conviction.
We tend to make an idol
of our interpretation,
upon which we are too
ready to sacrifice our
kindness and patience.
Not to mention,
another person.
Comprehending the kernels
of concern and truth
important to a 'wrong' person
is the more productive,
the wiser, kinder way.
I would rather make friends
than win arguments.
I want to thrive in an
atmosphere of mutual respect
where we listen to one another,
and not just so we can fight,
convince, or win.
We will thrive together
as family, or perish
as tribes of fools.
Thank YOU
Friend!
Warmly, cloudia

I often fear that perishing like a tribe of fools is the more likely option. I hope not. I really hope not.
I like that Tiffany lamp!
Such wise words!
Thanks, my very dear pals!
I always enjoy reading your own words most of all mon amie ✨ I agree, unless it's a matter of vital importance, personal opinions should be respected.
Thanks, Pacific Sister
I hear you, sister.
I found that there were some battles I lost with parents.
I argued with one family about their daughter's (gr8) issues with online bullying. I gave up trying to educate them, and helped her myself. (I've done training and lectures on internet safety for students, parents & teachers.) I try, really hard, to help people understand intellectual property, and theft of same, as well as how they can be sued. Often, to no avail.
I argued with a family who insisted their son deserved an A, when I gave him a B. I gave up arguing! I gave the gr. 7 kid an A. They were an immigrant family, who didn't understand my evaluation strategies. sigh. In the end, it really didn't matter. I even had a translator/parent advocate in the meeting.
Cute pup!
I'm afraid the tribe mentality will never be overcome.
It is not worth it to argue with friends or family.
I too would rather make friends than argue! Loving all your quotes Cloudia, such a refreshing group for the soul.
Thanks for being here, playing here, caring here my friends
