" To stand at the edge of the sea,
to sense the ebb and flow
of the tides,
to feel
the breath of a mist
moving over a great salt marsh,

Booby

" - to watch the flight of shore birds
that have swept up
 and down the surf lines
 for untold thousands of year,

as nearly eternal
as any earthly life can be.

Sunset Soliloquy

  A  L  O  H  A  !
Aloha means
a LOT more
 than "Hello" "Goodbye"
It is "Hello with Love"
and also
"Goodbye with Love."
A Hawaiian Namaste.
Let us say proper
Aloha Farewell
to a Day-

"...And great cloud-continents

of sunset-seas.  "
Thomas Bailey Aldrich,

" Rise up nimbly
and go on your
strange journey
to the ocean of
meanings....
Leave and
don't look away
from the sun
as you go,
in whose
light you're
sometimes crescent,
sometimes full. "
                    Rumi

" Come sit with me!
 Let us drink
 the holy wine
of happiness. "

Shadow Play is Serious Work

A  L  O  H  A !
 "There are
infinite shadings
of light and shadows
and colors...
it's an extraordinarily
subtle language.
Figuring out how to
speak that language
is a lifetime job."
                            Conrad Hall

" Find beauty not only
in the thing itself
but in the pattern
of the shadows,
the light and dark
which that thing
provides. "
                               Junichiro Tanizaki

"The hardest thing
to learn in life
 is which bridge
 to cross
and which
to burn."

My Naughty Dreams of Girlhood

A  L  O  H  A !
Club Hubba Hubba, Hotel St. Honolulu

When I was little,
riding in the back,

we often passed
 a neon sign

of a woman lounging in
a giant champagne glass.

When I was VERY
little, her leg
even kicked
through the magic
of neon.

My secret was
that I wanted to
grow up to BE
that woman!

You can read about
my adventures
in "Show Business"
in my semi-autobiographical
novel
"Aloha Where You Like Go?
Driving from Survival to
Satisfaction in a
Honolulu Taxi"

The book cover
at the top right corner
of this blog, is a link
to the Kindle Ebook version!
Read it on the beach.

Warmly, Your Painted Lady -

How To Beat The Devil

clamoring for love.”

"True patriotism
hates injustice
in its own land
more
than anywhere else."
                                            Clarence Darrow

 that can
break your heart

that heals it...”

The adversarial force
challenging our
Better Nature
operates
in mysterious ways.

Most evil in this world
is done by those
who believe they are
Doing Right.

One way that evil
tricks us
is by using our
Better Instincts
to it's own bad ends.

One example
is becoming SO
"sympathetic" to the
pain of others,
that we become
Righteously Angry
 on their behalf.

This creates:
More Anger,
More Judgement,
Less Insight.

Look at your own
facial expression.

Listen honestly
to your own words.

What energy
are YOU putting
into the world?

Righteous Anger
is an oxymoron
like jumbo shrimp.

Don't be a big
moron shrimp!
