Secret Centers

A L O H A From Honolulu!

If in our daily life
we can smile, if
we can be peaceful
and happy, not only
we, but everyone
will profit from it.
This is the most basic
kind of peace work.
Thich Nhat Hanh

looking well behaved

all the while harboring
a secret center. Deb Caletti

Give As Angels

A L O H A From Honolulu!

The moon is at her full,

and riding high,
Floods the calm fields
with light.
The airs that hover
in the summer sky
Are all asleep tonight.

I saw a star,
I reached for it.
I missed, so
I accepted the sky.

We paddle our canoe
doing the best we can

Waves of weather
and circumstance
rock the boat, but
this is what boats
are for, and paddles
and partners.

We slice through
the swells
when we paddle
together
heeding the
steersman.

Ho!
Onward Harmony.

So Glad that YOU
are in my canoe!

If, instead of a gem,
or even a flower,
we should cast the gift
of a loving thought
into the heart of a friend,
that would be giving
as the angels give.

Next Stage New Stage Different Stage

Dreams are chequered

Along the deeps

Lightly they touch the

Handy Thing to Have About

A L O H A From Honolulu!
Photography is what
emotions look like. Jon Luvelli

In 1943, the governor of Hawaiʻi offered
Punchbowl [crater above] for use as a national memorial cemetery; in February 1948 Congress approved funding and construction began.
The first interment was made Jan. 4, 1949.
The cemetery opened to the public on July 19, 1949, with services for five war dead: an unknown serviceman, two Marines, an Army lieutenant and one civilian—noted war correspondent Ernie Pyle.
