Heliconia is a genus of flowering plants in the monotypic family Heliconiaceae. Most of the 194 known species[3] are native to the tropical Americas, but a few are indigenous to certain islands of the western Pacific and Maluku in Indonesia.[2] Many species of Heliconia are found in the tropical forests of these regions. Most species are listed as either vulnerable or data deficient by the IUCN Red List of threatened species.[4] Several species are widely cultivated as ornamentals, and a few are naturalized in Florida, Gambia, and Thailand.[2]

Common names for the genus include lobster-claws, toucan beak, wild plantain, or false bird-of-paradise; the last term refers to their close similarity to the bird-of-paradise flowers in the Strelitzia genus. Collectively, these plants are also simply referred to as "heliconias". Wikipedia

Enough

There is no sport equal to that
which aviators enjoy
while being carried
through the air on
great white wings.
Wilbur Wright,

One way can be learned
by starting to see the
magic in everything.
Sometimes it seems to be hiding
but it is always there.
The more we can see the magic
in one thing, a tiny flower, a
mango, someone we love,
then the more we are able to
see the magic in everything
and in everyone.
Joshua Kadison

Very little is needed
to make a happy life;
it is all within yourself
in your way of thinking.
The object of life is
not to be on
the side of the majority,
but to escape
finding oneself in
the ranks of the insane.
            Marcus Aurelius

Enough

A willow bends
Beside the stream,
No need to chase
Some distant dream.
Its leaves just flutter
Soft and slow-
No urge to stay
No need to go.

A pebble sits
On shallow sand,
Not diamond, gold
Valuable or grand.
It simply rests
The sun its friend,
Content to be
With no pretend.

The world spins on
Bright and gray,
Clouds gather
Then drift away.
Within this breath
I softly stay-
Not lost, not found
Just here
Okay.

If in our daily life
we can smile,
if we can be peaceful

not only we, but
everyone will profit from it.
This is the most basic
kind of peace work.

Perfect happiness is
a beautiful sunset, the

Today,
I woke with nothing to fix.
Just the gift
Of morning
Clear
And enough.

Night rain washed
Old worries away.
In the hush before light,
Feeling like a better day.

Voices of the waking drift
With sparrows in the dawn—
Near and far
A gentleness is felt
Optimism
To which I'm drawn.

Outside leaves
Turn toward sun.
Their world is simple
Green, gold,  important
And fun.  💚
