Despite the long-standing urban legend that E. J. Korvette stood for "Eight Jewish Korean War Veterans," the name actually came from Eugene (E) Ferkauf and his buddy Joe (J) Zwillenberg, “Korvette” was based on the naval ship “corvette” The store launched before the Korean War even started.
