Magical San Francisco

A  L  O  H  A !
"One day if I go to heaven ...
I'll look around and say,
'It ain't bad, but
 it ain't San Francisco.'"
                            Herb Caen

“It's an odd thing, but
anyone who disappears
is said to be seen
in San Francisco.
It must be a delightful city
and possess all the
attractions of the next world”
                                 Oscar Wilde

Irreverence, independent-mindedness and
a hunger for far-off cultures have
defined it {San Francisco} ever since people
began streaming into the area in 1849
in search of new fortunes from gold, and
a settlement of 812 souls became within
two years a city of almost 25,000, many
from China, Korea and Australia, clustered
around more than 1,000 gambling houses.”
                                                   Pico Iyer

Honolulu feels pretty special,
but San Francisco is a
unique and beautiful place
in it's own right.

I have longed to live there
since 1967, and have
visited over the years.

Yesterday, we drove south
to The City
and it did not disappoint!

The light, the colors, the people;
the architecture, the cultures,
the smell of Art & Brains
in the maritime air.

Suddenly, we feel
that much BETTER
about the choice we've made.

Yes, I am in a beautiful place,
and when I want
what the world's great cities
offer, it is an hour away,
over the Golden Gate,
into a magic realm.

Be sure to wear
some flowers
in your hair!

Thank You!
                 Fondly, cloudia

It sure is! I'm excited to visit there again one day. So much to do and see and eat. We stayed in Fisherman's Wharf last time, and the street entertainers are wonderful. Enjoy your new digs I'm so jealous!

What lovely shots - I'd love to visit SF.

Do I understand that you're moving to San Francisco?

Cool post. Glad you made it to Chinatown and found an awesome mural. Did you go down the really scary section of Lombard Street??? That is always freaky when you drive down it. Loved the song. Did you drive along the Haight? Did you see the Victorian "pink ladies"? I can't wait for more posts on SF and Marin and the wild birds who come to play.

Loved the song and the pics from the times past. Those were the days when everything seemed so innocent and we all hoped for peace. I've never been out there but look forward to exploring it through your blog, Cloudia!

I've been through parts of San Francisco and it does seem like a wonderful city. Although I think I'd rather (go to Heaven as I'm sure it's nicer there). Loved that stunning mural.

Sorry, many years ago I visited San Francisco, but did not care for it. It was much too cold and made me sick.

Cool Dudette! I loved all my 23 years living in the City, starting from when I moved there when I was a young college thing.

I'd love to visit someday. You have to work in Tony Bennett's signature song since you're now living in the area!
