I love the quote about birds singing in the forest. I think Pixie is listening to their chorus. Usually, the Chinese character in your top picture is shown in a diamond with the points of the square up and down. Frequently, the character, which means blessings, is upside down because the words for upside-down and "arrive" are homonyms. Blessings upside-down means blessings have arrived, as they do every day on your blog.
