*Blueprints at Ninety

 A L O H A from
H  O  N  O  L  U  L  U

Frank Lloyd Wright completed 1/3 of his life's work between the ages of 80 and 92.

At eighty
some might rest,
count the hours
in the sun,
fold the years
like paper.
But you unrolled
new plans—
lines singing
across the page,
angles reaching
for the sky.

Your hands, still
steady with wonder,
sketched houses that breathed
with light and openness,
museums that spiraled
like galaxies caught mid-turn.

One-third of
a lifetime’s vision
born in the
supposed afterglow.

You proved what time
forgets to tell us:
that age can be
an opening,
wide as a
new doorway,
and creativity a river
that refuses to dry.

Even at ninety,
you were still
building tomorrows!

Java Sparrow (Padda oryzivora),
also known as Java Rice Bird
or Java Temple Bird.

A bird came tapping on the sill,
The morning air was soft and still.
But kitty dreamed in curled-up grace,
Sunlight painting her whiskered face.

We gave the bird a sip to stay,
It sang, then quickly flew away—
And kitty, stretching, gave a sigh,
Never knowing it fluttered by!

Pixie is like, "Frank Lloyd Wright can overwork himself at 80 and 90, but I am going to relax and enjoy my beauty rest!" Great post today. Love the little bird who tried to play with Sleeping Beauty Pixie.

That's a cool and positive poem, but I don't think it will be me.

Your poem is a beautiful testament to the truth that passion and creativity can keep shaping the world long after most would have put down their tools

Great as always and I wish you strength with your husband but with so much positivity that must be no problem.

I didn’t know that about Wright. He obviously aged very well indeed. Good poem.

Wow, I'm impressed! FLW worked 1/3 of his achievements when most would have hung up their tee-squares. (Draftsmen used them sometimes in architectural drawings.) But I'm doubly impressed by your poetry today! And the cute bird and of course Ms. Pixie! Have a good Tuesday!
