What a Week!

"Talent hits a target no one else can hit; genius hits a target no one else can see." Schopenhauer

Construction has been happening directly in front of my boat where I live and work. Peaceful!

"Storytelling reveals meaning, without committing the error of defining it."
Hannah Arendt

The ProBowl is in town bringing lots of football fanatics to the streets of Waikiki.

Walking along, I came upon this troupe of Samoan dancers!

The people you meet on the street, local folks just making their living, are the most beautiful part of living in Hawaii!

What a week! A cancer scare, heavy steel beams swinging through the air next to my rigging, incipient world-wide depression, and a huge U.S. Navy warship run aground just off of Honolulu Airport. Just another week in paradise!
All of you who stop by here to talk-story, and to share a few moments of your scarce time, have been the bright spots of this crazy week. THANK YOU!
Your comments of support, your views on friendships, and the posts that YOU have shared in your own blogs, are more appreciated than you probably realize!
Someone asked me: "Why 'Comfort Spiral?'"
"Com" means "with." Come be my companion. Communicate.
A "Fort" is a safe place.
Spiral means inspiration, respiration, in and out, cycles around and back again. Not the downward spiral of all our fears, but the upward circular road; turning just a degree more directly to Heaven with every circuit. . .

If your week was rough just think what the Cap'n of that DDG's was like. His, the navigator who got to close to the muck and, whoever had con of the ship. Their week was a career ender. Back in '74 my ship hit a pier in NYC, big big hole in the bow. Big Big OOPS!

Yes, another week in paradise! May this one be full of delightful adventures in which your rigging and the steel beams do not meet!

Sometimes survival is enough; next week, prosper. (Inhale, exhale, and spiral up to the stars...)

I'm so happy that your week turned out to be alright in the end and that we could be your bright spot, as you are often ours!

Peace - D

Cloudia, do you ever chill out at your parents' condo? BTW, how's your dad? Please give him and your mom my best regards.

I'm happy that your 'scare' turned out to be just that and nothing more serious my friend.

I've been having health scares since the start of the year and am not very happy about that.

I always enjoy escaping to your blog.

I live health scares every other day (DVT) and now I have to convince the government that I'm okay to go back to work so I can collect unemployment insurance. Injuries are no fun especially at a place that handles insurance defence and then decides you ought not to come back. I think someone upstairs has a warped sense of humour.

I also think I just failed Hannah Arendt's quote.

But your photos were great, Cloudia, and cheered me up.

Walking man: You are exactly right! My husband (Viet Nam-era Air Force)said the same thing when we heard about it. Thanks for YOUR service!

Sandy, Mahalo, Sistah.

Chris: Wise words, scribe.

RiverPoet: **** (I'm beaming at you).

Gigi: Appreciated, neighbor!

Deborah: If you like, you can go back to my post "Boat Living" to catch up on the sordid details. Glad you've joined us.

Sealaura: Hola, Amiga!

Ake: Thank you. I believe that your icon is in Tahitian costume.

Drum Major: Just fixing the broken down docks!

Daryl: LOL! I didn't SAY it, but you read my mind! Again . . .

Charles: We are holding a good intention for you! Stay healthy.

Travis! So cool to see you! How's your household coming along? All the best.

Barbara: Happy if I add to your day! Hope you get the consideration that you deserve. Best wishes to YOU.

Love how you have interpreted Comfort Spiral, and you live on a boat! So cool! Great photos and I am glad it was just a scare nothing more.

If I am not mistaken, this phrase was in your book as well.
