40 Years Ago Today. . .

Men from the planet Earth. . . .
Walked on the MOON. . . . .

They Came in Peace for all Humankind. . . .

You can see the imprint of Alan's moon-boot on several of these paintings. He also used moon-dust scraped off of his space suit as well.
You can see more of Alan Bean's art here:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Mark Twain

Cloudia -- Facinating paintings and site from Bean! Love the quotes...must get out from my "Kansas" harbor and set sail for MY dreams, although I have lots of red hibiscus and a few white ones bloomin' today! DrumMajor

I remember this date well. My wife's uncle Ed swore it was all staged. Since he was quite old at the time nobody argues with him.

Your visit will count and help me Make History.

Excellent post - claps ! claps !
The best - Moon lacks oxygen or men would have made boundaries existing.
Thankyou God Thankyou !

I love the pictures and I love the quote, Cloudia. I remember sitting with my brother in front of the tv all day watching the moon landing.

I'm not regretting anything. I've thrown off the bowlines and am sailing into the sunset. Sometimes it's the sunrise, but you get the idea.

Have a terrific day. :)

Days of adventure. And they weren't that long ago.

Thanks for visiting today

The moonlanding was faked. Why have we not been back? We had no such technology then. Signed - Area 51

very cool as usual

Great pictures as usual. I can remember just barely the launches of the Apollo missions. The imagination was set free by the space flight, especially in a young boys mind.

I have my new computer up and running, so I'll try to visit a little more often.

Aloha

For the first time in my life I can envision a place for doing art in my life. It's too big to blog about yet so I'm sneaking it into this comment, like whispering "I'm pregnant!" to someone not seen very often. There have been 3 artists in my family, it felt like there wasn't room for me but now I see a path going into the woods that is whispering my name. Much whispering in this comment!

I don't look wistfully at the moon anymore nor wish to even travel there. It is enough to know I will die tomorrow having no regrets over the footprints I have left here on earth.
