" It's the emotion
that appears first.
And then the thought
(or the story)
follows. "

Emotions are often likened to weather.
They blow in from who-knows-where,
they can be tender or torrential,
and when it's raining -
well,
you just gotta hunker down
and get wet.
Whatever causes emotions,
or precipitates a particular
episode,
they derive their power from a singular
fact:
They are ALL ABOUT
"Me."
Whole industries and professions -
some might say EVERY ONE,
are based on the promise of
elusive happiness.
Religions even promise happiness
that is FOREVER!
Can't wrap a cloud around a mast like cotton candy! |
One thing we understand too well
is how difficult it is to choose,
- or change -
our emotional state.
So riddle me this:
If our moods are our own,
and we know that they are
seemingly not chosen,
why do we often think
that the emotions
of those closest to us
are something
"they are doing to us?"
Sounds silly, but we ALL do it:
"If he would JUST act different,
EVERYthing would be fine!
Why is HE
DOING this to
ME !? "
Hard as it is for all of us
"Me-s" to understand,
those around us are, overwhelmingly,
each a " Me"
too!
And it's all about:
those "me-s "
to THEMSELVES.
Showing compassion
when one of them is upset
instead of pique,
treating them as a
wet "Me" in a storm
instead of as an annoying
cloud
over the face of your sun
might be the way to go.
What do YOU think?
Please tell us in comments
Warm Thanks, cloudia

Nice colored skies..... lovely shots.
Amazing shots... love the last one
A coworker snapped at me the other day (really snapped) and stormed off. My impulse was to follow her and get to the bottom of that, but instinct lead me to stay quiet for a while. She came back and apologized and we sorted it out. Good points there, Cloudia.
We find our balance and that silent space when we individually change coats to become a WE instead of a ME.
Wonderful I love this sky

Dratted emotions; it's only because drug companies haven't found the perfect "forever even keel" pill. Sounds boring though. I find it amazing that smells, aromas, odors, perfume, scents can trigger hopefully good memories more than other triggers. A nice trip for a nice memory. I like two sayings:
"Be kinder than necessary. Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."
and a part from a Bette Midler tune:
"And add my regrets to the tears in the rain, for that's what the color of roses contain.
Only the ones who believe, ever see what they dream, ever dream what comes true."
Mahalo for keeping us sane, and friendly!. DrumMajor
Emotion is a fascinating phenomena, and so poorly understood.
Great pictures and wise words.
Wait ..isnt it always about me?
very true..one's emotion is usually controlled by oneself.
You're right. Often we should give those who are angry with us a hug instead of answering back in kind.
Lovely sky shots.
Interesting topic...I'm still trying to figure that one out...I try not to make it about me...but like you said, it can be hard to change our emotional state...i try to look outside - in...sometimes I catch myself and sometimes I don't. Nice photos of the clouds! =)
It's a complicated business emotions Cloudia and endlessly fascinating! It amazes me how a person can be one way and literally a second later completely changed. It's all too exhausting, my motto is 'make love, not war' groovy baby and all that..haha I'm a relic from the 60's..
So true, Cloudia. Something along these lines bothered me today and I'm posting about it tomorrow. I have a feeling it might not sit well with some bloggers, but they always have that option to not agree with me so long as they do it nicely. :-)
Love the shots. It's been gloomy and cloudy over here lately.
I agree with you mostly, but I refuse to be anyone's emotional garbage can.
I absolutely agree!
Bonza cloud photos. All i know is that moods and emotions are very strange, what sets them off is anyones guess :-).
There are so many emotions running around me with all kinds of illness in my family. People just being plain worn out with it. Stress causes tension and people say things they wouldn't normally say. My dad's mother had to face many battles in her life but she always stayed the rock we could lean on. I think my grandmother would agree with Cleveland Amory, "What this world needs is a new kind of army - the army of the kind.
Some really lovely comments to this thought provoking post. I really like the 'be kinder than necessary, everyone is fighting some kind of battle (paraphrased by me). So true.
Thanks Cloudia, thanks anon.
Oh Thank YOU each!
You wouldn't believe how much this moved me. Will keep the first quote for sure in mind during the Tuesday over here.
Thank you once again for your ability to 'feel current pulse of time, life & world'.

From the post: "Can't wrap a cloud around a mast like cotton candy!"
But in this image, the cloud looks as if it was almost wrapped around the mast!
Delightful!

The world is so beautiful! Splendid images.
Dear Universe....when will you take me to Hawaii?
A few week back I saw a quote, give thanks for blessings on the way. It has been my mantra since and it is amazing how my attitude has improved. Pam
thank YOU!
each of you
So true, emotions comes before thoughts ...
I love the number Stormy Monday by Buddy Guy. Your photos are beautiful, those skies............
Thought, nor words can harm us, we just think they can!
Great post ♥ from down under♥♥
Oh yeah, we do all get the me feelings don't we...(I know I do) and the best way out of it, is to curb our emotion and don't let it get the best of us....I grew up with a Mother who really demanded the best and most out of her children, and growing up trying to please that, actually opened my eyes I think...for the others around me, to be alert that I am doing the best I can and as my Mother always-always demanded if something drops, pick it up....even if, it's someone's feelings....what's it going to hurt to leave someone smiling, instead of frowning?
couldn't agree more!
lovely skies as usual.
xx
thanks SO VERY much, YOU!
