Honolulu Front and Back

A  L  O  H  A !
 Waikiki Beach & Diamond Head.
THAT's Honolulu to most people

 Rainbows, Resorts, Ocean Views

This little wood frame house,
surrounded by mid [20th] Century
walk-up apartments speaks to me
of a city growing.

19th Century Chinatown.
Modern  towers 'photo bombing'
the shot

From the Japanese plantation carpenters
who built so many wood frame, local
style shacks, houses, temples,

. . . To the high rises going
up today, Honolulu
is a dynamic Pacific City.

I join all previous
residents going back
centuries in saying:
"You should have been
here 30 years ago;
It was so different,
so beautiful then!"

Thanks for Visiting!
                Warmly, cloudia

Aloha, Cloudia! I am surprised they have room to build more hi-rises. I was there in 1981 and it looked crowded. Lovely photos, enjoy your day!

Aloha, lovely photobombing image Cloudia, your post speaks to me as well. It seems this take over/restructuring is happening a lot. My favorite quaint Minneapolis neighborhood, Linden Hills, is preparing for a large high rise building to tower over (against the wishes of the residents) smack in the center of it all. Very sad.

That fourth shot looks very much like a Perth street scene :)

I don't think I could get tired of the view of Diamond Head.

It is a truly beautiful place. I prefer the wooden structures, but that is personal taste. And an aversion to people 'en masse'. Beautiful then, differently beautiful now.

It is the same everywhere, Cloudia!

I prefer the old ways of building. It had more character.
Thanks for your visit.
